I this this speaks to everyone here. Hope for the best, but realize there are a lot of missing pieces on this current squad. Going to be fun to watch though.

I don't think so.. remember the play SL ran when Sam Rogers threw the football back to LT.. That easily could be replaced with a Bucky Hodges in motion from TE spot throwing it to a WR streaking down the field... preferably Sam Rogers

We can only hope. People seem to forget that we used to use TEs for more than JUST QBs. We used them for DE, DT, OT, OG, LB, WR. Hell we probably converted one to a kicker at some point too. We love tight ends. Giggidy.

"I think first thing is the ones that are here, you evaluate," Beamer said. "Are they going to be the guy thats going to lead you? And if not, I think you go right to the new ones coming in and give them every opportunity. I think these guys this spring, its an important time for them and for us and see if anyone comes out of that group."
Just like I said this morning. The job won't be won in the spring, but an opportunity to compete for the job certainly could be lost with a poor performance.
Also, it is concerning that McLaughlin is missing out on full contact work. Shuman and Osterloh better be in good shape because they are going to get a ton of reps.
Both starting tight ends are no-contact. That means either Bucky better know how to block, or Darius Redman and Dakota Jackson will have a chance to show they can play.

I was really high on Redman towards the end of the year. He played very well in the Miami game and ran over some people. To me he seems more like the blocking TE for sure. Imagine this: Malleck split out in slot, Cline in the TE and Redman other TE side, Rogers as FB and "Juice" Williams as RB. Heck you could even add Bucky to this on same side as Redman.

I believe Hansen transferred from RPI. He's huge but I haven't heard anyone say that they expect him to get much playing time, but maybe I just talk to the wrong people.

On Beamerball.com they interviewed players back around Christmas and a few of the defensive players chose Hansen as the defensive sleeper for 2014. Wiles has mentioned him as well...

Wild Turkey, a shotglass and, me. Always a good formation.
I like the new and invigorated practices. I have high hopes and realistic expectations.

I sense that Bucky is on the Sam Rogers path of fan love.
Is Beamer trolling the TE playing QB folks?

Not a kicker, but I think Nic Schmidt could have filled in at TE in a pinch.
Nic Schmidt could have filled in a lot of things in a pinch.

love it
Where has Wade Hansen transferred from? Any promise with him as he tries out DT?
