Typical B/R but I wanted to see what you guys think... I strongly disagree but was curious because of that B/R poll.

You say "Bleacher Report," I say
Lol, didn't even click on the article because B/R
The info in the article is pretty common knowledge amongst hokie fans - every year we lose to at least one team that we 'should' beat.
IMO this was the most interesting part of the article - NO I DON'T THINK BEAMER IS ON THE HOT SEAT - but if we're not competing for an ACC title by 2016, something will have to change. I believe that we will again be one of the favorite by then, if not sooner.
I refuse to click on the article (because it's B/R) but I can pretty much guess what the article is about. They gloss over the 8 10-win seasons, 4 ACC Championships, 5 BCS Bowl appearance, top 15 in the country in sending players to the NFL since 1992 and bemoan the fact that we "haven't won a national championship" or "we lose big games" or "we lose games we should have won like JMU in 2010".
Those articles are bullshit. Listen, Beamz took a basketball school at the time and made it into one of the most prominent and successful programs in the country by every metric except for crystal footballs. Do they realize how difficult it is to do what Virginia Tech does every year?
They are probably ~10 programs in the country that have had a more successful run in the BCS area than Virginia Tech. That's pretty damn good.
I love the poll at the bottom... Fucking dipshit author
Its basically, "yes, Beamer should be fired because he sucks nowadays and VT isn't winning, so screw him" or "no, even though he sucks, VT is a shitty school who sucks at everything so they should just be happy with what they have."
Dear Sean Frye...
Hey BR

Bottom feeder Report
To be honest, from looking at the upcoming schedule we should strongly contend for the Coastal this season. No FSU/Clem, OSU strongest team on schedule. We do play Pitt/UNC away but have GT/UM/BC/UVA at home.
when have we not had LOLUVA at home?..I thought that was a home game every year
The bit about Duke taking over the reigns as the power in the Coastal, because of 1 good year, is as fanciful as saying Beamer's done.
Absolutely, I mean it makes sense from a logistics standpoint. One good year = dominating the coastal. Just ask Wake Forest how great it has been dominating the Atlantic since 2006
Mack Brown is still a lot better than what I would compare Bleacher Report to, by several orders of magnitude.
There are two ways to look at this:
1) Screw B/R! Don't they know how good Beamer has done!? He is definitely NOT on the hot seat!
2) Wow, we just got compared (program-wise) to Texas. Albeit by a sub-par sports website, but still. Maybe we're closer to the stratosphere of college football than we think.
I think reality is that we're somewhere in between those two.
Shoog compares Bleacher Report to poop:
Yep. That looks accurate.
IDK, I could use poop in some fairly constructive ways such as fertilizing lawns, setting ablaze on neighbors' doorsteps. B/R doesn't offer even minimal utility.
I didn't read the article, but off the top of my head, they have similar careers, and Mack has a better overall career just because he won a NC. They both struggle to win big bowl games (or in our case bowl games in general).
The difference is that Mack resurrected a national power house and Beamer turned VT into a reputable program. Beamer put VT on the map and deserves to stay as long as he wants. Mack struggled to win games in a place where you don't have to leave the state to recruit and he let instate schools take players like RG3 because he wouldn't play him at QB.
Beamer has earned his right to stay as long as he wants.
The facts/stats quoted are all accurate but the parallels and conclusions reached are pretty poorly put together.
Most importantly of all, Beamer hasn't had a huge element of his team's fanbase turn on him. The Boo Hoos will breath a sign of relief when he finally retires.
it'll be a brief feeling of relief for them though..I have a lot of confidence in the ability of Whit to hit a Grand Slam when hiring the next head ball coach here...
They will have a sigh of a relief for about a week until Whit works his magic and hires another household name.
I think this is the most important point when comparing Mack Brown to Coach. The fans are acting considerably different when you look at Texas vs. VT. If I can stereotype, VT fans have mostly taken a more gauged and considerate approach to Beamer's future, while Texas fans had the cliche "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" attitude.
And I personally appreciate that.
Anytime I see a reference to BR.
