Hokies Offer 2016 offensive tackle Jay Jay McCargo from Bishop O'Connell

According to the Bishop O'Connell coaching staff, the Hokies have offered 6'4 270lb junior offensive tackle Jay Jay McCargo a football scholarship to be part of the 2016 class.

McCargo is not rated by Rivals or 247 Sports.

You can view McCargo's film at: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2798163/highlights/164920376

He needs some work on upper body strength, and he tips his first step with his stance (especially when he pulls.) He also needs to play lower. However, he has a really quick first step, and as I have said here 1000 times, for offensive linemen, you can teach technique, but you can't teach feet. His feet and size make him a viable project at left tackle, a position where the Hokies are in dire need of depth.

Looks like a road grader. Squares his shoulders, drives legs till the whistle, knocks anything down in his way...good film!

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

I thought we were all in agreement we were going to have a new look at OLine. Signing unrated guys with a scholarship is not going to help VT

OLine is THE position where recruiting stars mean squat. Every year, you'll see 1- and 2-star guys get drafted and play at an all-American level, while 4-star guys struggle now that they can't bulldoze everyone in their path. It's a ridiculously difficult position group to project.

Case and point Eric Fisher the number one overall draft pick in 2013, a 2-Star OL.

Right like jake grove....who took 4 years to be an all american and good coaching in those 4 years.

But right now coaching players to greatness isn't a thing

side note, #3 class of 2013 player and 5* #1 OT Laremy Tunsil is proving to be a pretty good game changer

See Ole Miss with and without him on the field...it's a big difference

And the defense there isn't ridiculously because of that class either. And I can't disagree with you at all because Tunsil has been a beast. I can just show you that OL recruiting is a fickle thing and my rebuttal to that would be Seantrel Henderson top 5 recruit #1 Tackle, in I think 08, and James Gayle, as well as other DE, made him look like a bitch on the regular.
