I love Brewer's quote in the post game "I'm supposed to say I am"

Yeah he done learned.

What do you bet Frank had a meeting with him?

Sounds like someone got to him. I can't explain why, but as soon as he said it, I was like, "Oh, so Laurence Gibson filled him in".

I have no idea why Gibson sprung to mind.

That cracked me up.

Although I was embarrassed that he didn't know the answer in the first place, starting QB and all. But great answer after the game!

A HOKIE is an ASS KICKIN CHICKEN.....that what i normally say. But if someone really wants to know..I go into the history of how it came about.

you misspelled TURKEY

I like to tell people that it's a 101 proof wild turkey

exit light

A Gamecock is an Ass Kickin' Chicken, as that's been UofSouth Carolina's phrase for decades even though some unimaginative Hokies have tried to contort that phrase to fit our Turkey-based mascot. The definition of a Hokie - 'Winner'.

I think the first time I heard someone say a Hokie was an "ass kickin' chicken" was in the early 80's. Never knew USC used the same phrase.

I am is the perfect response to that question. I have found it silences everything. (Lived in SEC country for a while, sigh)

I must have been asked "what's a Hokie?" a dozen times on Saturday at anOSU. Every time I proudly responded "I am a Hokie" only to have the question repeated. So I just kindly repeated my answer. I guess you have to be a Hokie to get what it means to be a Hokie.

I always thought the "real" answer was that it was based on a cheer that a student/alumni made up in like 1900.

But I like Brewer's answer, too.
