Ray Minor moves to Whip, Dadi Injured: Media Day Notes

Alex Koma, Kevin Weiss, and Mark Umansky are on site providing coverage of media day. For those of you who don't have twitter and are not following them, here are some of the stories that are coming out that they will be providing more detail on later.

1) Per Bud Foster, Ray Minor is getting work at whip. He is a talented guy, but with depth being an issue at whip and mike, it makes sense getting Minor somewhere that he can contribute versus competing with Clarke (who will be on the field every snap), McKinnon, and Moss (all of whom are very good.) Bud also said the youngest Edmunds will contribute this year, especially on special teams. He is the first freshman that I have heard a coach say is avoiding a redshirt from this class.

2) As I predicted often during the summer and into fall camp, Chris Durkin is impressing the coaching staff, and Lawson (who gained 30 pounds since enrolling for summer classes) is, not surprisingly, having freshman moments...

3) There are lots of little injuries that will keep players from scrimmaging. None sound serious. Dadi has a cast on his left pinky. Dooley will miss today with a shoulder. There will be lots of work for Gaines, Fullwood, and Jeremy Haynes at DE. Running back has three guys being held out- Edmunds (ankle), Shai (knee), and McLease (shoulder.) Shane Beamer said all could play if it was game day. That means extra work for Steven Peoples and Coleman Fox at tailback.

4) Adonis Alexander has moved to rover and Bud is very high on him. It sounds like he may be one of those diamonds in the rough that VT has a track record of finding in recruiting cycles that makes a class good.

Desmond Frye is still the starter, but...

Alex, Kevin, and Mark will be publishing more stories and photos from media day, while Mason will be attending today's scrimmage. IT IS HAPPENING!
