Bill Cubit named interim coach for 2015 season
During a preliminary briefing from the external reviewers, Thomas said he learned of efforts to deter injury reporting and influence medical decisions that pressured players to avoid or postpone medical treatment and continue playing despite injuries. He also said in some instances student-athletes were treated inappropriately with respect to whether they could remain on scholarship during the spring semester of their senior year if they weren't on the team.
Personally, I don't think there's much more to add. This is pretty crappy coaching, and it certainly merits dismissal. Conflicted in how to feel for their players, as now they won't have to deal with this, but on the other hand, their entire season essentially blows up with a week before the opening game.
As they say, the offseason needs to end soon.

Eh. I'm not conflicted. Their chances of success this season may have just been critically injured, but their potential for future health has just taken a serious upturn.
Good riddance to that POS coach, and good luck to the Illinois squad.
Oh, no... don't get me wrong, this is the best thing for them long-term.
But you can't help but feel for the Seniors a little bit. Their final year is going to be tough, to put it lightly.
But those seniors won't have to worry about losing their scholarships when the season is over.
I just became an Illinois fan (though not of the state). Hope these guys pull a surprise or two. Do they play OSU?
Yes, in November.
Betcha that Aaron Moorehead is shaking his head right about now.
Aaron Who?
Besides, they wear loluva colors. Yuck.
I'll be the field reporter on this one. Here's the local reaction:

I guess the following had nothing to do with that:
The school said Beckman, who went 12-25 -- and 4-20 in Big Ten play -- in three seasons at Illinois, will not receive the $3.1 million remaining on the final two years of his five-year contract.
They also may take this and go... I would feel a head coach is better to replace than a coordinator this late
