Demetri Moore @dakingmetri, a 6'6 285 pound offensive tackle from Mississippi Delta Community College has received an offer from Virginia Tech according to the following tweet. (Note, Moore retweeted the tweet.)

Moore's 247 Sports Recruiting Profile confirms that he has been offered by the Hokies and Justin Fuente is listed as his primary recruiter. Moore is listed as a 3 star prospect and would have two years of eligibility if he joins the Hokies. Auburn is listed as the leader in his recruitment.
You can review Moore's HUDL film below.
Here are my reactions after watching the film:
1) Moore has outstanding feet. He takes short quick steps yet doesn't lose any straight-line speed when pulling. Feet are the first thing that I look at with potential recruits. Moore looks balanced and doesn't get over extended and he finishes blocks.
2) Moore takes reps at left tackle. The Hokies have Yosh Nijman ready to start at the position with Jon McLaughlin likely to move over to right tackle with the graduation of Wade Hansen. Again, his feet are an attribute at left tackle, however it doesn't look like he has great wingspan. To his credit, he does a terrific job of getting extension. Other than feet, the most important element of pass blocking besides good feet is getting your hands on the pass rusher and getting extended before the pass rusher starts to execute their pass rush move. Moore may end up as a pulling guard (spoiler alert- Fuente does use some G blocking in his offense) or left tackle.
3) Moore needs to work on getting a lower base when zone blocking. He gets his body in the right position, but against DI defenders, he can't play with such high pad level. That is much more easily corrected than the footwork issue.
This is an interesting offer. VT hasn't chased JUCOs in some time. I can remember Myron Newsome being a JUCO and I believe there were some after that, but I can't recall a JUCO joining VT since the move to the ACC. I will defer to others who have better memory on that issue. Fuente clearly sees value in him.

Comments
Can you compare his game/style to any linemen we've had or currently have?
Reminds me a bit of Laurence Gibson, but with more lower body strength and quicker hands. Gibson had great feet going forward, but tended to get off balance in pass pro. I was a big Gibson guy.
So this young man gets a JUCO offer. I don't think Fuente would offer if the school wasn't OK with it. Why has that been virtually a no-go of late? University policy, Beamer didn't like the practice, nobody liked us??? I remember in the old days we used to pick up some good student athletes with that process. An example of that is Robert Brown, linebacker in the early 80's, who went on to play eight years with Green Bay.
Yeah I never got why we never went after JUCO guys. If they can be a + on the football field, represent the university the right way and be academically mature, I have no problem with it.
maybe the limited eligibility? Coaches prefer a red shirt soph/junior that they've worked with for a couple years instead of a JUCO guy who has the same eligibility, but trained with someone else for two years?
several factors
1) ACC doesn't allow Non-Qualifiers (out of high school) to transfer from a JUCO unless they've graduated with their Associates degree
2) There are very few Qualifiers who go to JUCO for football who are D-1 prospects. (many more do so for basketball)
3) ACC limits each school to 4 JUCO recruits per season, in all sports. Basketball, Football, Track, Baseball, etc. 4 men, 4 women
4) VT admissions requirements may trip up some Qualifiers who went to JUCO for a year and are looking to transfer.
5) VT admissions requirements may trip up a prospect who earned their Associates degree but managed to miss a VT pre-req.
Very clear response. Thanks for that.
Saw JUCO from Mississippi and immediately thought/hoped we were getting Reavis back.
I'll keep dreaming.
Fuente is already changing the game by studying and offering recruits that fit his system no matter if they're JuCO or HS seniors.
Our lack of JUCO recruiting has also been attributed to admissions standards (both ACC and VT I believe) that limit us to only taking kids who qualified out of high school. And keep in mind, as stated below, that we did pursue a JUCO kid last year too.
Last JuCos I recall were Jimmy Williams and James Griffin
Oddly, I think they were both Memphis natives
Noteworthy to remind everyone that we heavily recruited a JUCO OT last season who ended up going to Miami.
Yep- I like this kid a heck of a lot more... he has some potential.
He obviously has more potential if he hasn't committed to Miami. :)
After watching the 1st play....

he also likes pancakes!!!!!
