As if having to get up to summarize a nooner on a Saturday wasnt bad enough, almost feels like football season, my wife's lovely computer decided to do a Windows Update with no warning, so the last hour's worth of writeup, GONE. If there was ever a nooner that calls for lots of bourbon, it would be playing on V-Day in the dregs of the morning game. We will be on the internet today so hopefully every one is able to pull up WatchESPN.
Away with the niceties since the game starts in 20 minutes.

Jaron Blossomgame(#5) is a 6'7, 215 lbs sophomore Forward, great sports moniker, and Clemson's leading scorer at 13.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg.
Teaming with Blossomgame down low is Donte Grantham, (#15), a 6'8, 205 lbs freshmen Forward from Hargrave Military Academy, who is averaging 9.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg.

The Center is Larry Nnoko, 6'10, 255 lbs junior, averaging 7.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 1.8 bpg. This trio of players lead Clemson in their strength, which is rebounding. As a team, they pull down almost 37 rebounds per game. This will prove troublesome for Tech, as it has all season.

The guards on the floor for the Tigers starts with their teams glue, Rod Hall, a 6'1, 205 lbs senior Point Guard, who chips in 8.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, and 3.6 apg. He is a calming force on this team and has the ability late in games to take over, making circus shots in the lane, that kind of stuff.

The shooting guard here is Damarcus Harrison, who is averaging 8.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg and is the teams best outside threat. Tech will not be able to play Clemson like they did GT for one simple reason. Clemson shoots from the outside, they dont do it well but they average 18.4 three point attempts per game so far. With our track record, this could be a bad thing, as they will likely hit more of them.
If I had to pick a surprise player playing a role for Clemson it would be Josh Smith, 6'8, 245 lbs junior Forward. He has that body type that seems to give Tech fits, has the ability to shoot from anywhere on the floor and could cause us problems.
Clemson likes to run a slow game, they average only 62 points per game on the season, so if Tech is sloppy with the ball, expect to see Clemson run their shot clocks all the way down before getting a shot. We cant afford to give this team the second chance and turnovers that we have been averaging. Clemson will also run a lot of a stretch zone on defense. They like to keep their big men down low and have their guards stretch out. Expect to see Bibbs and the big men stepping to the free throw line to break this zone.
Mueller and Smith play their normal big role and we get a surprise performance from Satchel Pierce. This is a road game, early in the day, against a team that plays sluggish basketball. Unless Tech can change the pace, I think they may have problems and allow Clemson to get a lead it wont relinquish. This game will come down to the final few possessions, and may come down to the free throw line.
Virginia Tech 69 - Clemson 65

Game starts in eight minutes now. Go Hokies
Time to get a road win for once!
Hopefully we don't give up 19 offensive rebounds again.
Go Hokies!
Memories of Carlos Dixon. Let's grind out a win baby!
Not the greatest start
They've fallen for the fake shot clock countdown twice...
those crafty tigers
Check your sports tier listings. I'm watching on Fox Sports South here in GA.
CSNMA (channel 576 on Fios) in Richmond
This is ugly.
oh look they drained another 3

This team is addicted to ugly low percentage forced shots...
They are earning this woodshed beating today
that half was ugly
It is painful to watch our inability to rebound on either end and our non attacking offense that passes it around the arc while the other 3 guys stand there.
How do we leave their 5 alone by the rim...
Clemson is almost at their season average before half time...
This is the kind of game that shows what players will be the go to guys down the line.
Henry needs to get his shit together offensively. He is constantly out of control with his decisions to drive the lane into a double or triple team around the basket forcing a bad shot only to have zero rebound help. Those plays do nothing for us.
I think Buzz expected Pierce to play a bigger role against Clemson's big men, but that was before he got 3 fouls in 5 minutes.
Which doesn't really surprise me... Peirce hasn't shown he knows how to play without fouling. To really expect anything from him over the course of a game is really unrealistic until he learns how to defend without fouling.
To lighten the mood, I'm imagining the team like this right now at half time... maybe the Water Bibbs will show up at halftime and we will win!
Bibbs has looked horrible the past few games
Yeah, that concussion just seemed to totally derail his season. Hope he gets things back on track soon.
I don't blame Buzz for not calling a timeout. Let this ass kicking sink in and hurt and show them they have to mentally be prepared for every night.
Clemson has also gotten every fucking roll this game
Well... today has pretty much been one big misfire.
There isn't much you can do when they are hitting every 3 covered or not. I am turning this one off though
I just realized Beyer and Pierce are on the floor at the same time. Don't see that much.
Edit: Or at least they were.
Why do I feel like there must have been a James Johnson sighting before the game started or something...no one showed up to play today. Was really worried about the outside shot.
Satchel Pierce... 4 fouls and 0 points
When people ask why he doesn't play more.... Yeah, this is why
Not much matters when your opponent has 17 more shots than you and made most of them.
Our defensive positioning have been a big assist to their efficiency. They're getting wide open shots when we over rotate or sell out to stop anything in the paint.
These commentators have obviously never heard of ultimate frisbee before. "What's that? A little frisbee football?" Love me some ACC Network
Been keeping my eye on Buzz this second half... He hasn't moved except for timeouts and only turns to the bench to call for a sub.
A message is being sent today
I think Buzz figures if his team isn't going to bring it, they don't deserve his A game. It sounds messed up, but I think it makes since. Having a coach act the way he did does a lot more mentality wise than anything else. We'll rebound next game.
Much like Buzz did with JVZ, he probably sent the message to the players that hurt short term but should help long term. In that, something along the lines of - 'If you aren't going to do what we told you to do to succeed, you will get this resulting embarrassment'. Also, Buzz probably knew he wasn't coaching the team back from a 30 point 2nd half deficit to win.
21 point loss that wasn't even that close
Team never mentally got on the bus in Blacksburg. Buzz didn't even bother trying to coach them in the second half until about 7 minutes to go when they finally showed a sign of life down 35.
This roster needs more big men. Satchel Pierce is a huge liability out there. Can't score and fouls fast. You aren't going to win many games with a complete hole in the lineup like that.
Bibbs is concerning me, seems to totally non-aggressive to me the last few games. I hope he is not getting discouraged with the program. Hopefully things will get better for him.
I don't think he's been the same since the concussion, I think (hope) that's the case. His shot has been off since he came back.
Except for Muller and Smith (and unless you're a Clem fan) that was like watching a Rob Schneider film. Written, produced and directed by Rob Schneider. Derp dee derp.
On the bright side, Dell Curry just dialed long distance from halfcourt in this All Star shooting thing. Old fella still got it!
Watched every minute of it. Man, like taking a beating. One step up and two steps back...
It was a nice write up. Thanks.
