Defensive tackle Luther Maddy would have likely joined them, although he is coming back for his senior season in 2105 after suffering a knee injury.

That must have been one hell of a knee injury.

I hope Bonner and Jarrett both get selected and find success in the NFL.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Leg for beating me to the comment. I also think he'll be a little old to be playing by then.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

McShay has Bonner ranked slightly ahead of Jarrett.

Coming into the season, who foresaw this?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

Well, it makes a little bit of sense when you think about the reasons fans didn't like Bonner. He wasn't good in man coverage, something safeties don't do much of typically on other teams or in the NFL. He was great in zone coverage and run support, more common safety skills, so if that's what he's asked to do at the next level, he should do well.

Jarrett's height is probably what hurts him the most, even though he makes up for it with his big hits.

Yeah, pretty much just based on size. Bonner has caught a lot of unnecessary and somewhat unwarranted flack over the past two years.

That being said, Bonner has only been decent against the run the past few years. Pretty good for a college safety, but not nearly as physical as many FS who have come through VT. There's a reason he isn't asked to be the free hitter nearly as much as Kam Chancellor was, even with Chancellor's occasional tackling issues. On the other hand, he's been asked to get out his comfort zone and play more man coverage... I think the 7th round grade is fair for both of them.

Interestingly enough, Chancellor now plays SS in Seattle. Shows how different Bud's system is.

Kam played out of position his last year due to necessity.

Were Porch and Morgan (2 deep at ROV) that bad at coverage? I'm fuzzy on that year for a few reasons.

McShay has a boner for everyone.

How far would you go for a McRib?

If you Googled 'McBoner' to get this image I don't want to know what else came up in the image search

What about next year?

Maddy, Dadi, Marshall, Clarke, Fuller (likely), McGlock, Bucky (maybe), Malleck

That's a pretty solid draft class. I would guess Maddy, Fuller and Bucky would all garner pretty high grades.

McGlock will just be a junior next year, doubt he'll leave early

yup could be pretty solid. I don't think McLaughlin will go next year and I don't think malleck will get drafted either. The others all have a shot.

God help our defense after next year....

Experience wise, yes. Talent wise I'm not so worried. Mook, facyson, Ricky walker, Tim settle, Raymond minor, etc. I don't think ill ever be too worried about a bud foster defense.

We got Bud Foster, and a lot of young talent to take their place. We'll be fine. We're not LOLUVA.

Possible for Ekenam to leave early as well with a good RS Jr year.

It's possible but, I don't expect it.
He's good but he has a long way to go to learn to play TE.
This year was his first year on field as a TE and while he did well, there is light years to go with leaning the skills necessary. He's done well so far with his physical gifts, which would mean less in the NFL.

He has a lot of skills to learn, he's learning them quickly but, going NFL after 2 years in the position is not something i expect.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Ekanem is moving to TE?

Is this cognitive dissonance, did the OP edit his post, or was there a change I didn't hear about?

I think Eg read "Bucky".

At first I thought it was another TE joke.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

It doesn't follow though.

Or maybe he responded to the wrong post.

Getting one of these guys drafted is a pretty big deal IMO. It's a great recruiting tool to say a Hokie has been drafted every year since 1994. Recruits want to go to the NFL, and saying you've put at least one guy in the NFL for 21 straight years is a hell of a resume.
