from UVa football longs to be part of school's winning run
rats from a ship, y'all
In case anyone is interested, those are about the three lowest ranked recruits they had from the 2014 class.
I had to look up who they were and found out they were nobody I should have ever heard of in the first place.
pssh, don't trifle me with your "relevant" facts
Jordan and Canaan? Seems like London went all biblical with that class
They needed all the help they could get
I never get tired of laughing at UVA
Seriously, it never gets old.
True, we could not have a better, more ridiculous rival.
This thread is going to go nuts on upvotes
my favorite part of that gif will always be the little note at the end stating that making this gif took a disgusting amount of time
Guess he finally found a place he can start. He sure hasn't won games.
Yep good thing Cincinnati is known for putting WRs in the league. Armon Binns and Marty Gilyard are tearing it up.
I think Vidal Hazelton ended up there after he was like the #2 WR recruit in the nation behind Percy Harvin.
Correct.
Sounds like the type of team-first attitude most NFL teams want.
Nothing to see here folks....
I don't care what kind of talent he has, I never, ever want a guy like that on my team.
Sometimes I tell myself that big name recruits go elsewhere not because VT coaches didn't work hard enough to recruit them, but because VT coaches discovered that they had an attitude like this tweet and decided to pass. I'll never know, but hey, it makes it easier for me to cope.
#1yearloser
Seriously? You aren't good enough to start for a losing program and you are transferring because you think it will get you to the NFL?
these are old tweets justifying why he chose LOLUVa in the first place
yes and in light of this news, quite hilarious, too. i love schadenfreude.
It's funny, because by the beginning of that #3yearplan he will have 1 career catch after sitting out the second year of the #2yearplan
Maybe next is Hooters? #5yearplan (hopefully people get this reference)
He has loose skin and old balls.
Yea, I'm pretty happy we've got Ford and Phillips.
If you want a little thing to pass the time, go to the official virginiasports website. Check the football schedule page. You can go thru the past seasons, and for the last 11, there is a little box that pops up on the right side with the VT win. Or better, the "L" for uva. It's the little things.
TIMEOUT!
He's trying, but doesn't quite have it down yet...

And he's giving up all of that cool Wahoo swag!
Man, the only thing that worries me about all this is losing timecop. It wouldn't surprise me for him to be out after this year. As long as they keep pulling people like him to coach I'll be ok.
I don't get why we are so scared for them to lose timecop? Any new coach at UVA will have a hard enough time recruiting against VT especially once those "breed life"connections go missing. that will be a tough place to sell IMO
I'm more worried about Golden getting fired and someone getting that job.. Miami could pull tons of talent/5*kids and ACC titles with the proper people in charge.
What do other people think?
Miami already pulls that kind of talent so I dont see their recruiting changing much with a new coach. Their issue has always been the same; they don't play as a team. Until they get a coach that can get that to happen they wont be back. I thought Shannon had a chance to do that given that he played there but no dice. Jimmie got them to be an us against the world team and that's what made them dominant and I'm not sure who out there can do that again.
As for UVA, if they get the right coach they can be dangerous. Football is their weakest sport by far and a slight uptick in it and they could start pulling recruits again. All that being said, we are losing out to the blue bloods for the top talent, not UVA.
That's what I'm saying Miami already pulls the talent they just need a coach that can get it to work.
UVA would be a 3-5 year rebuild. thoroughbred connections would be gone real quick and UVA isn't a football first school. I would/could see them hiring one of the lower FBS guys ala P.J. Fleck and letting him run it for 10 years
Miami could be a 1-2 year rebuild if they get the right people in charge.
If UVA hires P.J. Fleck we may be in a world of hurt. I really hope that they go after another FCS school Head Coach. PJ Fleck is a good recruiter and a energetic, great young coach. Hell he would be one I would love to look at when Frank hangs it up.
agree 100% PJ Fleck here would be nasty... but UVA def could pick him up for sure and it would be an easy/no brainer HC hire IMO. Could possibly be had on the cheap and like you said can recruit, is young and seems to get the locker room going.
they don't need cheap, they have plenty of money.
That program is a sleeping giant. Very good facilities, excellent brand recognition, great location. If you want kids with academics, they can do that. If you want to recruit 757, they can do that.
All of my A-List for VT HC candidates: Shaw, Patterson, RichRod, Richt, Fitzgerald, Dantonio, Mora.....these are all guys who UVA could attract as well.
Can we add Chad Morris to this list?
Chad ain't leaving SMU anytime soon, that boat has sailed.
How do you figure? VT is a much better gig than SMU.
Morris is a Texas guy.
IMO Beamer is here for 2 more years maybe could sneak a 3rd year in. If he gets to 3 I could maybe see CM coming to Blacksburg, if its 2 years for Beamer I would be willing to put my mortgage on the line that CM will still be at SMU.
CM- 6 year $2 million annually. my guess is his buyout is close to the one he had at Clemson of 5.2 mil.. that's top dollar. Would VT go after someone like that or just try and pry d'antonio or arians or P.J. Fleck? the options will be a plenty when the time comes that's for sure.
I think Chad is at SMU to get experience to be the next HC at higher level school. Yeah, he's a Texas guy and it's nice to build that experience in your home state, but Chad Morris wants to be a big time HC one day. Personally I hope he does it in Blacksburg.
100% agree. No way he stays at SMU
I agree he wont stay at SMU but he's not leaving in 2.. and based on the looks of thing we will be looking for a coach after the Bristol Season
Whit may give him 4 or 5 million good reasons to uproot a bit early. Couple that with a chance to run that offense paired with a Bud Foster defense, and that might be hard to turn down.
oops, sorry. I mixed up the ACC schools where you can get a PHd in ACD (arrogance, condescension, douchebaggery)
Could attract as well? 4 of those guys have a 0% of coming to either VT or UVA.
Gary Patterson and Bud Foster...wow, just wow. They would dominate.
UVa would be a very long rebuild.
Their administration doesn't know what it takes to build a program. They're under the impression that 'if you build it, you will be good'. In basketball in the commonwealth, when nobody else was really spending money, yet, and in baseball, where NOBODY was spending money, sure. But in an environment where EVERYONE is spending absurd levels of money to compete, you need more than a splash hire and fancy facility, you need a football centric culture that can sustain momentum and not collapse when the going gets tough. We're nearing the point where an entire generation of fans will have come and gone since the last time that UVa was legitimately good at football. We're entering an age where the parents of recruits don't remember the last time UVa football was relevant. That is going to do so much long term damage to their chances of legitimately rebuilding the program. Can they? Sure, but its going to take a 5 year rebuild at a minimum, to completely bolster the roster, and even that assumes a new coach comes in and immediately puts together talented and deep recruiting classes. And that also assumes the fanbase will be willing to wait around long enough for it to work. Thing is, after their success in basketball and baseball, I am not so sure that fanbase is willing to sit around and wait for the process to work.
UVa got Quin Blanding the same year they got Kamara.
I really like Blanding, and find UVa a waste of his considerable talent.
Could you imagine him back in OUR secondary right now? WOW
Yes. I imagined it even before he took the wrong path.
It would be nice, but he bought into whatever they were selling at UVa. Its funny really, and its been the same story with them for a while. All these "great" high schoolers go there with an attitude that they will be better than VT and everybody else just because. I guess thats why they go to UVa, it fits the bill. Now Blanding is the real deal, but it has been funny watching "Smoke" and now their QB and WR tandem of the century Cutler and Kamara transfer within a year or so.
Not that Blanding regrets his decision but he has to realize that all those dreams London and Co. had sold them are never going to happen.
I'm with you on that one-remember when we were all sad that Groh got fired and we didn't think they could follow up that gem with another one...until they delivered a clown like London to the ACC? Fear not, I fully believe they can do it again. Whoever is doing the hiring over there, give them a raise.
because every other coach at UVA is really, really, really good.
They are quite good at hiring coaches, except their last football hire. Their next hire will be a good one. I'd rather London win 6 games and get to a bowl and stick around for another year.
but with a new hire at hC those coaches would most certainly not be there?? New coach almost always cleans staff regardless.
I think he means every other coach in other sports
gotcha!
I see Tom O'Brien getting a promotion.
They've got a good staff their with Tenuta and Tom O, but they're thin after their starters and way too soft. (Cue the Colin Cowherd video; Please cue the Cowherd video, I miss it!)
O'Brien's not there any more
Well in that case they're gonna keep losing for a long, long time.
Cowherd LOLUVA :)
This is just the news that makes me want to head to thesabre.

I wonder how many are at their desks doing Archie Bunker gestures...
As long as UVA is always winless against VT, I don't really mind if another in-state school is doing well. I just don't want it to be at the expense of the hokies.
Yet another high achieving Thoroughbred... all that's left is for Andrew Brown to finish his career as a back-up offensive guard. (i'm going to ignore Quinn Blanding :-)
I'm not going to make another topic about this but this also makes you laugh. Title of the article is "New poll says there are more UVA fans than VT fans in Virginia." Check it out...
http://wric.com/2015/07/23/new-poll-says-there-are-more-hoos-than-hokies...
Winning in basketaball and baseball somewhat brings them onboard.
...its almost painful that this had to be stated...
This used to be Bill Brill's rationale for the Roanoke Times' extensive reporting of 'hoo sports back in his day. Well, that and a grudge against a Hokie HC, but I digress. He claimed that polls had shown the Roanoke Times's readership preferred 'hoo news to Hokie news. After I gave him a hard time about it in a letter to the editor, he invited me out for lunch and a beer (I drank two, thanks, just to spite him) at a brew pub in Roanoke to talk about it. He did all the talking, gave me maybe two or three minutes of rebuttal, and regaled me with his life's story and Dook, Dook, Dook. I got a free lunch and an earful, unimpressed with him, but a bit more informed about someone I had just vilified from afar, like many other Hokie fans, a sentiment he found "curious". Only time he ticked me off a bit was when he was pontificating on the "Culture vs Agriculture" that he claimed was the underlying reason for the animosity between loluva and VT. He named other schools as similarly opposed for similar reasons, but that irritated me. But like the man just posted, baseball and basketball have garnered a bunch of bandwagoneers, and our recent problems and seasons haven't engendered a lot of love outside the faithful.
That's a great story. But I have to ask...
While at lunch, and bearing in mind that this was the likely late 70's, early 80's, did
you ever consider becoming the originator of the bitch slap?
coach, well you might ask. It actually happened after '87 because that's when I moved back to Giles County, but, nah, I guess I just took the free beer, free food, and lunch with a self important icon of the journalistic persuasion as a reason to take a pass on slapping the old guy. I already didn't like him, he already didn't care...I'd kinda forgotten the whole thing until this thread woke the synapse. The idea does have appeal, however, and I would have gotten some serious props with a lot of Hokies who hated him, but I guess I let the team down. Sorry coach, bench me.
I'm not gonna lie... I'm just impressed you could spend a dinner with the guy and not give into the overwhelming desire to smack him right in his smug ass face.
It was lunch, not dinner. And admit it. If Bill Brill had called you up at your house after you had written a scathing letter about his and his paper's disgustingly, blatantly biased toward UVA reporting, and invited you to join him for a free lunch to talk about it, wouldn't you have gone? Having never hit a human being in anger, despite routine provocation and desire, I wouldn't have hit him anyway. Sorry to disappoint you fellows. I take out my agression on helpless kittens and dogs, wahoos, and whoever Tech is playing next...and fish, definitely fish.
I wonder when that poll was done. I would take the finding with a bucket of salt. Hokie fans must have been too busy celebrating the commonwealth cup & military .
I think our success from 90s-00s gave a lot of people in the state Hokie fatigue. I went to grade school with a lot of people who would root against Tech just because we were good. Meanwhile I'm like:
My wife fell into that category. Grew up in C-Burg rooting for UVA just to spite those around her and because she was so tired of everything being about the Hokies. Plus in the pre-460 days it was hard to get around on game days.
She ended up going to Tech and loving the Hokies. After we got married I made her donate her UVA shirts she had leftover from childhood. No way I was going to have that garbage in our house.
Donated?
So you pushed them off on someone else?
At the end of the day it's still just a shirt. We were in Florida at the time and my employer was affiliated with a food pantry/thrift store that assisted battered women and children. So yeah.
Appreciate your altruistic nature, and I understand your intent, but still, sounds like child abuse to me.
I'll go turn myself into the authorities. See you guys later. I'll be sure and watch my corn hole.
Easy there. You don't (didn't) play football for F$U so you won't get preferential treatment...
Still can't figure out how anyone can say the name of that game with a straight face.
I spent some time in Illinois where everyone just called it "Bags". Confused the hell out of me the first couple times people were talking about it before tailgates.
My initial reaction was that this poll was likely conducted at the wineries of Albemarle County. Then I thought that they may have included results taken from exit polling at some of the LOLUVA baseball & basketball games (they obviously didn't have enough responses at the football games).
I think a better title would be "New Poll proves that internet poll results are meaningless".
Seems legit... Polldaddy.c0m
EDIT: the "reply" button eluded me again, my bad.
Looking at it, the same poll indicated that only 13% of UVA fans disapprove of Mike London's coaching and 37% approve along with 50% who "aren't sure". Also, 42% "aren't sure" if Tony Bennett is doing a good job or not. Some fans. Sounds like a lot of folks identify as Hoo fans but don't bother to watch their teams...
Why would they?
In my experience, many Hokie fans know more about the Wahoo teams than the folks you see at the Food Lion wearing the scissor hats. I know I watch the 'hoos a lot. Rooting against a team you really wish ill for is the next step down from rooting for the Hokies. Same thing, to a lesser degree, for WVU and a handful of lesser evils. Gotta do something for that sports fix.
Cincy is getting a LSU WR as well.
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/23/cincinnati-the-new-home-for-ex-lsu-wr-avery-peterson/
so many more lols at UVa and Jamil when he gets moved down the depth chart for this guy. HA!
both have to sit out the 1 year but man Cincy will be set for their 2016-2017 year
With what? UVA and LSU's garbage??
