Alex was in the Beamer Barn for today's Virginia Tech recruiting camp. (Mark was there snapping photos too.) The following are a few notes courtesy of Alex:
2016 CB Keyvone Bruton said he wanted to work out with Torrian Gray again now that he's moved to corner. (More on his move to corner here: http://www.thekeyplay.com/virginia-tech-football-recruiting/2015/04/9165....)
2016 Bayside WR Phillip Patterson made his first visit to Virginia Tech this weekend. He told Alex, "he's loved campus so far." Patterson's announcement date is August 1 and, again according to Alex, "He's already made his decision at this point."
2017 S / WR Devon Hunter hopes to make it back to Blacksburg on an unofficial visit for the Ohio State game, and the plan is for his Indian River teammate, 2016 LB / DE Jaquan Yulee, to join him.
Expect a much, much more thorough wrap up by the end of the week.

I find it interesting that Patterson has already made up his mind. It'll be a compelling revelation if he picks Tech, considering his mind was made up b4 officially visiting. Which if he does, would be a great example of how complicated recruiting can be; for some, it's about early PT. For others, it's about being a part of a family, the coaching staff, or facilities. Sometimes we as fans and alums get all sideways when we read the coaching staff didn't close on a recruit. In most cases (see: Josh Sweat) the staff has done everything possible, just short of giving away Taco Bell coupons...they are dealing with 17/18 year old kids. Who knows what they're thinking? Evidently Philip Patterson already does...lets just hope he signs with the good guys!

I think he is rolling with Duke. If he made up his mind before he even came to campus, my guess is he just wanted to check it out knowing all along he was never going to come here. It's a pretty sick game to play on the coaches and fans but I can't blame him; if I was a talented young football player, I'd want to see all there is to see just for fun too...
It would be real nice to get Hunter and Yulee by impressing them by beating the national champs
I think if we beat them this year, it will not only be the biggest win in our school's history, but it would immediately get us over that "relevant" hump with a large amount of recruits
