nice.
Louisville has 7 players on the All-Academic Team
6 majoring in "Communication"
1 undeclared

Wiley, Brown, Russell, Drakeford, Gray, Banks, Prioleau, Charleton, Midget, Bird, McCadam, Pile, Hall, Green, Fuller, Williams, Hamilton, Rouse, Flowers, Harris, Chancellor, Carmichael, Hosley, Fuller, Exum, Jarrett

I don't know much about the HNFC program at VT, but we have 2 guys in that....

That and two of the Dukies are History majors, seems like an obscure major to have two athletes who both qualify for all-academic team. Nutrition, sports mngmt, etc are typical for athletes who want to be trainers or coaches or stay in sports in some professional aspect other than playing. Also any athlete from UNC should just be prohibited from these honors until the NCAA investigation is resolved, amiright?

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I'm not an athlete, and I chose History so I would get good grades

I am not knocking History as a major, I was more wondering if this wasn't Duke's "athlete eligibility" major. I know after the Maurice Clarett issue at OSU, investigations found they were funneling kids into agriculture majors for grades and players from inner cities were laughing about how obvious it should have looked.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Don't think it's worth throwing stones about academics and majors for athletes.

Awesome for any athlete to get on an All-Academic team in my opinion.

Congrats to us and congrats to Louisville. Would love if Buzz could build a Louisville type bball program at VT.

are there NO representatives from The University of Virginia on the list?

I'm sure it's because their classes are more demanding.

Feels so good when you joke around

"We judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their behavior" Stephen M.R. Covey

“When life knocks you down plan to land on your back, because if you can look up, you can get up, if you fall flat on your face it can kill your spirit” David Wilson

I didn't know Aaron Moorehead was in that movie...

The ACC All-Academic Sports Team evaluation committee on its arrival in Charlottesville:

Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars
Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

The usual knee jerk response from Charlottesvile is that - 'Classes are so rigorous here that athletes don't make honors grades'. Of course, they also claim when recruiting that - 'We only accept the elite academic athletes', so there's a hypocrisy waiting to be noticed.

The truth is that UVa does a really apathetic/poor job of assisting the tutoring of their marginal athletes. We (VT) do a really admirable job of assisting our athletes who are at any level academically. I don't know why we're better at it, but I do know that we are better at it. I mean, I know why - because we provide a focus on tutors and monitoring, while UVa tends to be very very unwilling to dedicate time or personnel to do the same. We probably shouldn't be, based on the historical academic reputation given to UVa vs us, but we absolutely are.

Way too many recruits AND their family members are not told the truth about that variance during recruiting. We all know virtually every HS player thinks he is a lock for the NFL, but the message about the merit of a degree really doesn't seem to either get across or matter to the recruits.

Is it any wonder that parents in general like Tech. We stress we want their sons and daughters to graduate with a degree for life instead of just playing sports!
