Coach Bill Foster Passes away

I'm sure there will be more detail about this from some of the guys here but Coach Bill Foster passed away tonight. Coach Foster was the head coach at Virginia Tech from 91-97 before retiring. He was coach during our NIT Championship in 1995.

Please revise the title to avoid mass panic. We have another "Coach Foster" currently...

Sad news indeed. Condolences to his family and the players who played for him.

On my phone typing this. I do apologize for the mistake.

Never heard a negative word about him. Sounds like he was a great man.

Sadly it took me a minute to think of who he was. Back in the 90's I was still in
school and playing my own sports. Not really paying attention to VT sports.
But as soon as I saw his picture I remembered him. Thoughts to his family.

@AMB4VT

I freaked out for a second then realized I read the title wrong.

Sad for us all, best of the best to his family.

Coach Foster was a good guy and a good coach. I remember him well, and fondly. Met him at PK's one day and had a nice talk with him even though he was there for a lunch meeting with his assistants, he was that kinda guy. Didn't care much for his successor, though, but that's not a topic for this thread.

May he rest in peace, gone but not forgotten here in my family.

RIP. And my thanks to him for one of the best nights on campus I ever experienced which was when Shawn Smith hit those two free throws to beat Marquette and win the NIT. At least my hall in Vawter went nuts. Heck of a coaching job that season getting that group of walking wounded through the season and winning the NIT.

Back when he roamed the Cassell sidelines he was THE Coach Foster!

Great man. You will be missed.

We put the K in Kwality

Will always remember his last home game, sitting in Cassell, when they honored him by giving him a Virginia Tech Golf Cart and I sat there thinking to myself, that has got to be the best retirement present a man could ask for.
He even got to drive it around the court!

Thank you Coach Foster for the impact you had on the Hokie Family!
