Have you ever noticed that certain players tend to be a thorn in the side of certain opponents?
I've always thought that JC Coleman has had some of his best games against Duke, going back to his freshman year when he had 183 yards and two long TDs on 13 carries. The 1st of the two touchdowns was the go ahead touchdown at the start of the second half.
Later in the game he puts the Hokies up 3 scores with an 86 yard TD run immediately after Duke turns the ball over on downs.
He added to his prowess against Duke last year by starting his 4 game stretch of great performances to end the year against them.
While re-watching the 2013 GT game, I noticed were several good plays by Demetri Knowles. His first career catch for a TD (while being interfered with) to give us the lead late in the 2012 opener is one the better remembered plays of his career, but he had some plays that were nearly as impressive, though not quite as impactful overall in the following contest. The one that stood out especially was a catch down the sideline where he used one arm to keep seperation from the DB while laying out to make a one handed catch for 28 yards on 3rd and 4.
Later in the same drive on 1st and 15, Knowles takes a quick slant 22 yards, setting up first and goal prior to Tech's second Touchdown of the day.
Are there any other players that you think tend to perform extra well against certain opponents?
