Hey all, I know we dont have a game this weekend but the mid-atlantic region is getting pummeled. There's a low parked around the NC area. If you all remember low pressure systems rotate counter clockwise. As such the winds are coming in from the east (pretty unusual) and bringing with it all of the moisture from the Atlantic. There's not much instability in the system so its not going to be convective thunderstorms or anything but just lots of rain.
The really weird part about all of this is as the trough comes through from the midwest it appears to get cutoff and stop moving, setup shop in the region and just spin. I'm trying to figure out why. For whatever reason the pattern just broke down and as a result the system gets caught in the mid atlantic and pummels the DC area. My best guess is to venture that the high over Maine/Canada is kind of blocking the system from progressing and as a result it breaks down the trough/ridge pattern and we get a ton of rain as a result. The craziest part about this system is as it slowly moves out, the upper low (what was once the trough) moves back up the ohio valley according to the euro....just really weird. Regardless you guys are in for a ton of rain the next few days. I'd venture to say about 5-6" without looking to much at it
