Died of seizure due to a heat stroke working out in the heat (He was a marine engineer). We played ball together from 3rd grade through my senior year of high school. Back in 2004, I gave him the free tickets I received for the WVU game at Lane. I was looking forward to bantering with him this September.
Be safe out there, and always remember the signs of a heat stroke.

Sorry for your loss. These are great pieces of advice. Something else I might add, check on your elderly neighbors, they often are hit hard by heat like y'all are having.
I'm so sorry for the loss of a good friend. Thank you for that excellent information, too. Would he have appreciated burning a dollhouse-scale couch in mourning?
Great idea. He would actually appreciate that I think.
So sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss, and condolences to the family and friends.
We deal with this at work every year as our plant temperature is exacerbated by ovens, kilns, and furnaces. One of the things noted in our training is that people suffering from heat related illness will say they are not thirsty. Drink lots of water if you display any of the other symptoms and do not consider lack of thirst as a sign you are OK!!
