ESPN: Catfishing hits college football recruiting (SVP)

SVP's 1 Big Thing: Scott Van Pelt isn't surprised that Unique Brissett II lied and used social media to catfish the college football recruiting world, but is surprised that it doesn't happen more often.

I know we missed on M.J. Walker but at least nobody has Manti Te-oed those of us who follow recruiting yet.

So this means we SHOULD tweet at recruits?

Old sigline: I've been cutting back on the drinking.

New Sigline: lol it's football season.

The first one I heard about something like this was on OTL a few years back. This OL in high school was claiming he was getting tons of offers and even had a commitment ceremony in front of the school and committed to Wisconsin I believe. I don't know how someone could keep that big of a lie going for so long, or who the hell would even want to do it. May seem neat for a moment or two, but unless that school just miraculously actually extends you that offer, there's really no outcome that doesn't include you instantly becoming the largest horse's ass in the state.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

I have no idea where this place is

Are people really mad over this? I think it's hilarious partly because he thinks its hilarious and partly because it shows how ridiculous recruiting has become.

Although I do hear Bronco was ready to offer...

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Imagine if you subscribe to Michigan State's 247 site. Their 247 guy posted an interview he claimed to have done with this recruit.

Wasn't our own Houshon Gaines catfished by someone claiming to be a Florida scout?
