So Little Debbie created quite a stir. In a marketing scheme gone awry, the bakery giant announced that they would discontinue one of the following four treats: Oatmeal Creme Pies, Nutty Buddy, Christmas Trees, or Honey Buns.
So that sparked quite the twitter debate. Here are my rankings:
1) Oatmeal Cream Pies
2) Nutty Buddy
3) Donut Sticks
4) Cherry Fruit Pies (needs less icing and more buttery flakiness to achieve elite pie status
5) PB Crunch
6) Zebra Cakes
7) Christmas Trees
8) Fancy Cakes
9) All the other stuff
10) Honey Buns
11) Brownies (Yelch)

in my correct opinion, #1 is and always will be cupcakes; they're my life blood and reason that I wake up each morning.
Yea we've been meaning to talk to you about that. You really do need to see a doctor
The only time cake beats pie is Little Debbie. The pies just should not have that doughnut icing on the outside. Fried pies are significantly better.
And Tasty Cakes are the worst.
THE WORST
Tastykake rules.
Oatmeal pies are indeed the best
I third that. Especially toasted 😉
But seriously, oatmeal cream pies are top, always. Swiss cake rolls right behind that.
The double decker ones at the gas station spelled doom for me. Cannot pass them up.
1. Oatmeal Cream Pies (...what Mom was looking for when she said "pick up a box of Debbie cakes")
2. Nutty buddies
——-
3. PUMPKIN DELIGHTS
4. Honey buns (although I prefer the solid white "fat pill" ones made by someone else)
———
5. Everything else?
They don't make pumpkin delights anymore. Otherwise they would have been ahead of fancy cakes.
Are you sure? They're in my cabinet right now.
I bought several boxes of them before Halloween.
Oh God don't start the toasted debate here. Someone will surely come along and say toasters are offensive and that microwaved bread is a religious experience.
Yes, but fudge rounds are a close second and haven't even been mentioned by anyone.
Agree. Oatmeal cream PIE 1a, fudge rounds 1b, then swiss rolls.
Hold up....aren't Christmas trees just a different shaped zebra cake? Seems like Christmas trees getting the axe would be a no brainer.
Minus the festive sprinkles, yes. I thought the same thing.
Completely different than the holiday themed Reeses eggs at Easter: they deserve to be sold all year long.
The shape and festive sprinkles make them taste significantly better, though.
I think I have only ever tried one item on that list. The fruit pie
You need to go to Food Lion and spend 8 dollars, and try them all.
Put spread out your sampling. If you ate one of each Little Debbie, your kidneys would shut down.
Zebra Cakes are far too low in your power rankings of deliciousness. Also, as Wasknick mentioned previously, Swiss Cake Rolls are up there with Oatmeal Creme Pies as the blueblood cakes. I had a friend in high school who literally got in a fist fight and was suspended for a week over a stolen Swiss cake roll. This is high-stakes business here.
Sorry yall but #1 should be Swiss Cake Rolls.
Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies are shit compared to Lance. The Lance ones actually taste close to homemade. Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies have a weird film/grease to them.
You are fake news.
Bonus points for donut sticks but need to add strawberry shortcake, coffee cakes, pumpkin or apple delights and gingerbread cookies.
Easy, best Little Debbie is:
For the win.
So good, you can't even find them anymore.
I could part with the Christmas trees, they are resurfaced Zebra cakes, as was mentioned.
Dead last: any Little Debbie containing coconut.....I'm pretty sure these were banned by the U.N.'s chemical weapons treaty.
True story:
As a kid, living in Chattanooga, they took us on a field trip to the Little Debbie factory.
Best. Field Trip. Ever.
Holy shit, I came here to say this. I didn't too many people knew about these!! They don't even sell them where I'm at in South Dakota!!
What the fuck. i'm a fisherman. Bananas have to GTFO
It's seasonal, but Pumpkin Delights are #1 for me. As soon as they come out, I load up. Loading up is necessary because grocery stores around my parts stop carrying them after Halloween (all the Christmas cookies replace them). This is some bullshit. Pumpkin is a Thanksgiving staple. WHY THE EFF CAN'T I GET MY PUMPKIN DELIGHTS ALL AUTUMN?
Also, special shout out to a newish seasonal item (2 or 3 years old); Carmel and Apple Oatmeal Pies. It's just like Oatmeal Cream Pies but with with a carmel cream and apple butter. It's amazing. But just like the Pumpkin Delights, they are only around for a couple of months.
It's all about the pumpkin delights...in the fall, I keep back stock on these puppies. Kids love 'em, wife digs 'em and I savor every morsel...so much so that I eat the crumbs up after my 1-year old.
Pairs well with pumpkin spice coffee creamer or egg nog. Delicioso amigos!
I hated Oatmeal Cream Pies as a kid compared to the chocolate chip cream pies and fudge rounds. I feel like Star Crunch and Pecan Pinwheels are underrated since they haven't been mentioned but perhaps they just have an illogical place in my heart. That said, Nutty Bars, Zebra Cakes (and tree cakes), and PB Crunch are definitely at the top for me. The fruit pies are flaming garbage.
Don't sleep on Star Crunches
Anyone else never have a Little Debbie's before?
Damn dude. I know architects thrive on high brow vices, seriously I get it, but go get some Little Debbie. It's terrible in one sense and amazing in another. Kinda like our career choice, the duality is perplexing.
Think its more a product of where I grew up. No Little Debbies in the desert as I recall.
Funny story about high brow vices for architects, was working with Fosters and he shows up one night having just flown in. Everyone was in late at night cramming in the work at end of a deadline. He was starving, everyone else also with the munchies, so I ordered everyone McDonald's. Those high brow vices get thrown out the window fast when you're in studio jonesing for some nourishment.
Awesome story. I have a feeling I'd enjoy a tailgate with you, listening to the stories of a career in real architecture, not the Busch League stuff most of us end up doing. (You aren't missing a ton by not having Little Debbie. It's more of an 'experience' than something you'll love.)
I would never recover if they got rid of Nutty Buddies
They are my go-to now because of the pb/c contrast and wafer crunch. The downside is the slight meltiness during the summer.
Oatmeal cream pies are a direct recognition of time spent with my dad. When he first started taking me hunting (late muzzleloader season around Sugar Grove VA), we would always stop and grab an oatmeal cream pie after every unsuccessful trip. It was a little sweet with the sour. Once I was old enough to go during rifle season to Craig County, OCPs were a staple of the hunting camp. The utility, small portion, and lack of messiness made it the most functional hunting snack.
I'm sad that cosmic brownies are last on your list...they were a big part of my childhood
Cosmic brownies are so damn delicious and it hurts me that you hate them so
They were always dried out.
However, after sleeping on it, the MiniDonuts might actually be the worst. I️ don't know how they got the Donut Sticks so right.
oatmeal pies are sacred and far and away the top little debbie product. but don't go getting on my white dusted donut friends
i can fish all day running on nothing but mini donuts, spinwheels and coke zeros, though there are better brands of those snacks than little debbie.
pro-tip: in winter, leave a package of pecan swirls on the dashboard so they'll be warm and sticky for munching on the way home.
Before I get to my list, there is one I haven't seen mentioned yet, and it is my third favorite: Raisin Cream Pies. These are a classic. Not too sweet and the perfect way to eat raisins.
1)Swiss Cake Rolls - head and shoulders above the rest.
2)Oatmeal cream pies - old-fashioned, have loved them since I was a kid.
3)Raisin Cream Pies!
4)Nutty Buddy - sugary, peanut butter goodness and many knockoffs.
5)Fudge Rounds
Honorable mention: Jelly Cream Pies.
You say:
As if there is such a thing........
The food industry re-markets raisins as if they are something good.....
They are not; they are little food turds.
As kids, my parents tried to give those little sticky boxes to us like it was a dessert and we would cry.
If a house gave them out as some kind of malevolent 'candy substitute' for Halloween, we would shun it and throw eggs.
If you were to offer me food with raisins, I would consider you my enemy.
You probably love prunes though............
Actually all Lil Debbie products are pretty much skank. The Xmas trees especially have that wonderful taste and texture of sugary lard. The all time best is not made any more. The mini Bama Pies.
Raisin cream pies are my second favorite. A close second to Banana Twins.
1)Swiss Cake rolls
2)Devil squares, heat them up in the microwave for a few seconds Wow
3) Oatmeal Cream Pie
4)Fudge Rounds
5)Chocolate Christmas Trees
Others)Mini donuts
Nutty Buddy
Chocolate Cupcakes
anything else is 🚮
Zebra cakes are #1. There is no debate about this. Swiss rolls are another blue blood as you say. Everything else is irrelevant. The jelly and fruit Debbie's are nasty.
It's a scam
Swiss cake rolls reign supreme. Throw em in the freezer.
Nutty Bars are a darkhorse candidate.
Getting into White Whale territory, the pecan pies are great if you can find them. Only sold in solo packs, usually at gas stations.
Keeping with the rarities, Caramel Cookie Bars are what Twix aspire to one day become.
Star Crunch will always have a place in my heart. Like a rice crispy treat and a chocolate bar got frisky.
But give me a warm Moon Pie over all of them.
Hey Chem guys please chime in!
"Hydrogenated" either fully or partially makes anything, even something that's really good (read: NOT Little Debbie crap) a no go for me. Stuff doesn't digest, doesn't excrete, just hides away in your body like all that plastic in that huge swirl in the ocean. Do yourself a favor and avoid that stuff like the plague. There are a million better treats out there.
Gonna be (rightfully) banned by the FDA starting June 18, 2018. The food industry is already transitioning to high-oleic oils and safflower oil as replacements.
Walnut brownies.
You can keep everything else.
I had an internship at Little Debbie in process engineering as a junior. They had freebies in the breakroom anytime you wanted, which made bringing a lunch totally unnecessary.
I would be even fatter than I am now.
True story I actually lost 15 lbs that summer, primarily because we played soccer during lunch hour 3 days a week in the Chattanooga heat. They had a full athletic center on the campus with soccer and softball fields, a gym, racquetball courts, weight room, etc. Debbie knows a dead employee is an unproductive employee.
...bro, were you eating straight up lil debbies for lunch?
He's still alive, isn't he? Therefore it must have been a good idea.
Every once in a while, yes, because I was in college, dumb, and indestructible.
Little Debbie Rankings (the correct version)
1. Nutty Bars
2. Nutty Bars (they're so damn good they get 2 spots)
3. Pumpkin Delights
4. Brownies
5. Star Crunch
6. Fudge Rounds
7. Swiss Cake Rolls
8. Irrelevant. Everything else is shyte.
1. Fudge Rounds
2. Swiss Cake Rolls
3. Pumpkin Delights
Thousands of miles of garbage
9999999999999. Oatmeal creme pies.
don't @ me.
Oatmeal pie w/ a glass of buttermilk is one of my childhood comfort food snacks.
