wait, you didn't tell me who to root for in the TECHMO bowl /s
I was a always a Backyard Football kinda guy

But then you missed the NYG player urinating on the Washington guy in the opening credits
Lets climb the f'n ladder!
If we want total chaos:
Auburn over Georgia
Mississippi State over Alabama
Notre Dame over Miami
Iowa over Wisconsin
UConn over UCF
I want strategic chaos... I want the kind of chaos that blows the current system up
I want 2 SEC teams, ND, and one other team in the playoff. I'd have loved it if that other team could have been someone who didn't win their division, making it so that only 1 of the Power 5 conference champions were deemed worthy, but I'll settle for 2 of 5 in a 4 team playoff. The quickest way to expand the playoff is to exclude as many big money conferences as possible.
Or....
Miami beats ND and loses to Clemson in the ACC Championship, the Big 12 beats each other up, and two ACC teams and two SEC teams get in
We probably also want these outcomes in order to climb the rankings:
Rutgers over #14 Penn State
#20 Iowa over #8 Wisconsin
Colorado over #11 USC
In theory, if we get those three outcomes, plus with Oklahoma/TCU and Ohio State/Michigan State dropping two teams, and then Georgia and Alabama winning, we could have potential to move up 7 spots. That puts us in better NY6 range.
I forgot to take Iowa State over Oklahoma State into account, but that probably wouldn't affect things much, because on second thought, I don't think we would jump Wisconsin right now.
Don't we only need to be on the top 12 for a NY6 invite possibility?
Unless one of the teams in the Orange Bowl is ranked below us, for example, Auburn would be ranked below us if they lose to UGA and Bama, or MSU or OSU the loser of that game would be ranked below us but would still make the orange bowl
Gotta figure that the G5 champ might be ranked lower than #12, and there's a chance that either or both teams in the Orange Bowl could be below #12. If that happens, then a team would need to be in the top 9 or 10 to get one of the at-large spots. Then, if one of the conference champs is ranked lower than that, it's an even higher threshold for the at-large spot.
For example, in 2014 (same semi rotation as this year), #12 GT was the ACC replacement for the Orange Bowl, and #20 Boise State was the G5 rep. The #11 team got left out.
In 2015, the Sugar Bowl had to get replacements for both the SEC and Big 12, so they ended up with #12 Ole Miss and #16 OK State. #18 Houston was the G5 team, so that means that #10 and #11 got left out of the NY6.
Last year, #11 FSU got the ACC Orange Bowl spot. #14 Auburn was the SEC replacement in the Sugar Bowl, and #15 Western Michigan was the G5 rep. #10 and #12 both got left out. That was was especially tight, because none of the champions got displaced by the semi-finals (although three of them needed replacements in their normal bowls), so there was only one at-large spot available, which went to #8 Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl.
I think at that point we would definitely be getting into Citrus Bowl territory
1-0, and hope everyone else loses
Naw, fam. You're not the only one!
I realized I forgot the video of the week, so I made sure I grabbed a goodie
