OT: STAR TREK DISCOVERY

Is anybody watching?

So far I have bee entertained by the show. But the CBS streaming service is the worst sort of ass I have seen since Watch ESPN.

Want to watch this show.

But no, the hell if I'm paying for CBS all access just to see one show. Internationally, this is on Netflix, so it's bullshit they're pulling this crap stateside. Hope the show fails just to stop this nickel and diming crap the networks are now trying to pull.

I agree about the CBS all access. They are basically holding the show for ransom to get people to sign up. But I don't want the show to fail, because I miss Star Trek. My plan right now is to wait for the full season to finish and then sign up for the free trial and then binge watch. It will probably have to wait until the summer so I don't have to worry about getting the kids up, dressed and out the door by 7:30.

Wow I had no idea it was on netflix internationally. I paid the $6 for a month. But the service is god awful. Every episode I have watched skips every few seconds, the whole episode. And I was just trying to watch the latest one, and the whole platform just shuts off on me in the middle of the episode. Doesn't save my spot and I have to watch the ads again.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Wait its a subscription service and there are still ads?

I mean unless you want to pay more.

No.

I am watching it on.. a different streaming service. Generally I have been impressed so far. My one gripe is that the klingons come off a bit whiny. But i think the acting in general has been quite good and I like the story arc of the main character. Sasha from walking dead delivers IMO

Overall if you like Trek then you should like this

Oh was Michael Burnop in the Zombie show?

Yep. And she brings the intensity she learned on that show. Really helps her character development

Yet another show I need to watch. Although I may be the only one who never has.

Just started watching last week, big fan. Love the cast. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy/Colonel Tavington from the Patriot) does a really nice job.

How far into it are you? We've been watching since Episode 1 and really like some of the turns the second half of the season has taken.

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

We are at epsiode 6 I believe.

I fell off after I let my CBS thing expire. I figured I would wait until the season is over and binge it off of only one months access. Yeah that 6 bucks a month will get you.

(Honestly I am lying, I will definitely be torrenting this)

Interesting stuff going on in the second half of the season. Didn't watch last night's episode yet, but I will when I get home.

I just bucked up and payed $10 bucks to watch season one, as the new season comes out next week. I actually really liked it; you just have to get over certain things that don't make alot of sense. I am interested to see where the new season goes. I will probably only watch until my one month subscription ends, though. I will pick it back up after all of season 2 is out.

Anyone else catch Episode 1? Legit better than the last two movies. This series is the real deal.

I watched it Thursday. I am fairly impressed with this show, as long as you can get rid of some continutiy errors. I have also heard rumors of CBS doing one last season of Enterprise.

I mean this is a fictional future that centers around the adventures of a common core narrative surrounding a crew and ship that has time traveled and completely changed the course of time on several occasions which then completely reinvented itself through a time traveling mining vessel and pointy eared character of an alien race with logic v empathy confusion that seemingly can comprehend not only the existence of another him in the same dimension/timeline but communicating and taking advice from said doppelganger without creating a universal time paradox, so if your only issue is a few continuity problems then pretty damn good, no?

Word for word what I was saying to myself.

I love the show. I have been a long time Trek fan. The second season of Discovery looks promising with the connection to Captain Pike, Spock and the Enterprise.

So the episode titles for season 3 are out and I was blown away by one in particular; Unification Part 3

🤯

I'm surprised with all the Trek Nerds out there that nobody else had anything to say about this.

I actively try to avoid spoilers. Just wish there was something on CBS All-Access I was interested in aside from the Star Treks.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Twilight Zone isn't bad

Lower Decks was surprisingly fantastic.

Amazing but I do not see how you could get into it if you haven't seen most treks. Tons of easter eggs and references to obscure episodes. Did you catch the finale? Prob in my list of top 10 trek episodes now.

Yep, just watched last night.

Those Old Scientists line got me. That show just had so, so many one liners and references to previous shows. So good, and such a good payoff for having followed everything up to now.

And these guys have been cracking me up since I was 5

Ok I am not sure what happened, but man Discovery is downright bad this year. Way, way too much angst in every episode, and this past episode kicked it up a notch with the crew being emotional over space dust that spoke to them through emotions. Ever since they wrote Tilley off, its just gone downhill, in a hurry. They just beat you over the head with emotions until you submit every week, and its just not enjoyable anymore.

Read an article that pointed out that the producer for the show right now was also the showrunner for Riverdale, and it just makes so much sense. Discovery has evolved into being a teen angst soap opera in space.

That sucks. I was super on-board with the first two seasons and thought the 3rd was entertaining enough to not be irritated. I hadn't started in on the 4th season yet. Picard S2E1 just dropped two days ago, I expect that season to go much better than Discovery.

Yeah it's like the bottom fell out of the writing this season. There's no comedic foil to offset the mountains of crying and emotional whispering that exist in every scene and it's just bringing the whole thing down. The show takes itself way too serious and the output suffers for it.
