Clemson DT Dexter Lawrence & 2 others fail drug tests - Will not play in Cotton Bowl

DT Dexter Lawrence among 3 Clemson players who fail drug tests

Looks like if this failed test holds, they'll all be suspended for at least the Cotton Bowl.

Star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was among three Clemson players who tested positive for a banned substance earlier this month, coach Dabo Swinney told reporters Monday.

It's not clear if the test results will impact the players' eligibility for Saturday's College Football Playoff semifinal between the No. 2 Tigers and No. 3 Notre Dame (4 p.m., ESPN/ESPNApp) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

He said he expects "B" sample test results, which would determine the players' eligibility for the game, would be available Wednesday or Thursday. The "B" samples are secondary tests to weed out false positives.

"We're just kind of at the mercy of the process," Swinney said. "And then there's an appeal after that, but that doesn't really help with this game."

For their sake I hope the process is quicker than clearing someone academically for basketball.

Update: All 3 failed their B Samples drug test and will not play for at least the Cotton Bowl.

Very similar to the Grier situation, the ingredient Ostarine can be found in small amounts, and possibly unlisted on multiple supplements and even some energy drinks. That said, it's also used in intentional doping as an alternative to anabolic steroids with fewer side effects.

Will be interesting to see how the secondary "B" sample tests go. I have a feeling they will all be playing on Saturday, regardless of if the use was intentional or not. The amounts were apparently very minuscule.

Meh. Play them. The worst that can happen is the NCAA decides three decades down the road that the games never happened and no one else plays along (see: FSU bowl streak that ESPN kept harping in all season)

What bowl streak?

I wish I had saved the quote, so I would have the original wording as well as the source. But punishing a team by vacating their wins is like punishing your kids by telling them to forget last year's trip to Disneyworld.

Let's Go

HOKIES

Bama had a few players pop as well.

What's
Important
Now

They are suspending all three for the OB, but they didn't say exactly why. Including an important starting LG.

Does it really matter. Their 3 deep is more talented than anyone else in the country. (I know continuity on the OL is important, but still...)

Is coronavirus over yet?

Deonte Brown makes a big difference in the run game for them. Think if we had Wyatt Teller out for a big game.

Ehh, not much of a loss when you have a 4/5 star kid behind him. Bamas depth is unlike any other program, 3 #1 class in a row.

Jonathan Allen and D. Payne on the Redskins D-Line both said Redskins practice was "easy" compared to Bama. Whomever is behind at Bama is ready to start.

Pour some Beer on it

That's because the Redskins are garbage.

It's pretty universal for Bama players to say that practice in college was more intense than their NFL teams.

I thought the sarcasm was clear there, more a jab at how poorly run the Redskins organization is.

I might start an OT thread about that once the season is over given how many Redskins fans are on this website. Kind of like a Macgruber rant thread except for the Skins.

In case you haven't noticed, the season is over for the Redskins. At least the Hokies on the team are getting the extra practices for next year.

Ah! I look forward to other people pointing out more sources of my Redskins misery.

It would be nice if the Redskins were garbage. I'd call them "sewage," from an organizational standpoint.

Ok so we deal with SARMs like ostarine a lot in the powerlifting world so I'm just going to leave this here...

https://www.usada.org/substance-profile-ostarine/

Do everyday products contain ostarine?

There are in fact products that contain ostarine, but only illegal ones. Given that ostarine is not approved for human use or consumption in the U.S., or in any other country, there are no legal medications that contain ostarine.

It's also important to note that ostarine is not a permitted ingredient in dietary supplements. However, you should be aware that some dietary supplement manufacturers illegally put SARMs like ostarine in their products and sell them as "legal steroids" or "research only" chemicals. Moreover, they may omit ostarine from the label entirely, or use misleading names to confuse consumers. For example, ostarine may also be called enobosarm, MK-2866, or GTx-024. Some examples of supplements that contain ostarine can be found on the USADA High Risk List. Click here for an advisory on ostarine in supplements.

Using /s is for cowards.

OP Updated. All 3 are officially suspended for the Cotton Bowl.
