I noticed on 247, though a talented player in his own right, his high school teammate (and fellow DB) is the #1 player in Massachusetts. It'd be awesome to land both.
Junior Highlights
Looks like a ballplayer. Great hips, fluid athlete that changes directions effortlessly. Only thing his tape is missing is some defensive dog hits/tackles. I know MA isn't a goldmine for football talent but his school is a great program that regularly produces FCS talent. Welcome Mike!!!

I felt the same way until I saw his tape. I think he's extremely underrated.
When I first saw he was offered and looked at his rating, I assumed it was just a tactic to get closer to his teammate, high 4* S Lewis Cine. After he committed I watched his tape and was extremely impressed. Looks quick, smooth, great hands. I'm excited for him. I'm guessing he will end up being ranked somewhere in the .86 - .88 range when all is said and done.
This should make the rest of our DB recruiting interesting with spots being limited. Attention Kelly, Hawkins, Land, and Bell...only a couple spots left, who wants them?
We always take one or two more DBs than we obviously need, even in a small class like this. We have room for 3, I wouldn't be surprised to see us take 4 or 5.
A common theme of 2018 was getting commitments from players and then watching their ratings slowly tick upward. Hopefully we see the same here. Welcome aboard.

Don't get caught up in the rankings (or lack thereof). Kid is an absolute stud. Not the fastest in the world but quick, physical, great ball skills, and has swag for days. Those offers are legit. I think we take Tank and then swing for Nyquee Hawkins, JR Walker, or Sheridan Jones.
Was he recruited for CB specifically? He looked pretty good on offense as well.

Yeah I do. With Tank's size I think he's basically is limited to being a slot corner. Will be a great one in that spot though. Can't pass up on a talent like Tank.

Does Sheridan have a good relationship with us? I know we like BS a lot and if Tank and Adariois come that's two guys he plays with already.
He and Tank are very very close. Part of the reason Sheridan reclassified in the first place was to graduate with Tank. He likes VT just fine but he's enamored with the big boys right now. Getting Tank in the boat early will help greatly with him though.
Getting Tank, Adarious, and Sheridan would be just incredible.

Watched his film and daayyuum! Can somebody explain to me how this guy is a 3 star?? Is it competition he plays against? Size? Measurables? Reputation of the school? Just curious because I don't see how anybody (at least me) can distinguish between a mid 3 to low 4 star for most of these kids.
My guess would be that anyone from Massachusetts (or the northeast in general) is going to be initially ranked lower just due to the perceived level of competition in that area.
Only Rivals has a ranking for him. 247 shows him without a ranking, and I don't think ESPN has a profile for him yet. That's got to be frustrating, in light of that offer list.
He's got wingspan, a nose for the ball and a feel for the game. He is quick reacting because he plays instinctively. Definitely makes up for any measurables and then some. Reminds me of Chuck Clark as he just makes plays.

If you watch his tape then you know this kid is getting a HUGE bump in the ratings eventually . Not sure if LA actually watched the tape on this one because "not a burner" is not what I see. I see a dude with some juice. One play he blitzes from the left side and makes the tackle on the right side of the field on a sweep. That is the definition of a burner. This is a huge get imo. Hope we can keep him. He looks like he could play wr or db and be a return man.
Definitely watched the tape. He may have game speed, which is obviously more important, but his track times are not impressive. There are some times floating around 247 with his 100m compared to some other current players and he doesn't stack up too well.
Regardless, the kid is a stud.
Thanks for the clarification. I could care less about running out of blocks though. I care about game speed when you have pads on and people trying to kill you. This kid has some juice for sure. It may not be top end speed, but he gets to full acceleration quickly. Great get in my opinion. Hope we keep him.
