Based on those on-hand, Buzz made an unsolicited statement regarding the return of center Khadim Sy to Mark Berman. Williams also provided details around Sy's departure.
This happened following Tech's 76-59 win over North Carolina A&T on December 28.

Seems pretty straightforward.. Sy bailed at the start of the semester, then at some point during the fall decided he'd like to come back, and Buzz gave him a 2nd chance. Maybe at some point in the future we'll hear more about the motivations of all involved with the departure, but for now I'm just happy Sy is back. Buzz seems to really care about taking care of his players (while holding them accountable).
Also, Buzz really doesn't like answering questions from Berman... going so far as to try and preempt a bunch by providing answers to questions unasked.
And I 1k% agree with him doing that. A significant (though not sum total) of questions are nothing beyond useless conjecture.
Is it possible to be shamed vicariously through Berman?
Man, Buzz owned that reporter, props to him for containing his frustration, and methodically choosing his words wisely.
Berman is trash. I know beat writers aren't fans but his demeanor in person and how he comes across in videos and his writing style is trash.
Man, the internal rage he is holding back is palpable and then Berman asks the same question. Personally I would never take a question from him.
Berman is a dick. He's widely ridiculed by sports media throughout the ACC, and not just our own region. I know multiple times I've seen the media here in Raleigh mocking him when one of his foolish things comes out. I'm glad that Buzz is singling him out and I wish the university would do more of that. I wish we could pull his individual credentials while telling his employer they are free to bring anyone else on board.
I remember a couple years ago he went on the warpath against Whit because they moved the media seats in Cassell from courtside to where they are now to better accommodate ADA standards. Burned a lot of bridges back then and I'm surprised we are still cordially working with him.
What's an example of Berman being a dick? I'm not familiar with his work.

Berman showed his level of dickness a few years back when he was live tweeting about having to wait on Buzz to talk to the media. And the fact that he complains about everything from the type of pregame food he gets to where he sits while constantly comparing how UVA is better.

This is correct. He should just go work for lolUVA because he's at their level of doucheness. Then other media got really bitter about having to wait an hour to do their job, some who weren't even there. Then ironically said making hour long team speeches weren't going to turn the season around when that's exactly what did.

I love how Buzz handled that. His stare at Berman multiple times through the entire video tells the story. He can't stand him and knows that Berman's heart is only focused on himself. He emphasizes each statement about the erroneous reporting with the stare. His pauses to pick the right words show that his mind is full of "why do I have to even answer this guy" thoughts. Buzz has his priorities straight and he's letting Berman know that Berman does not.
And PJ just sitting there and having to be a part of this scene simply by his presence. When he goes back and talks to his peers (the team) about what he was in, that will build this team further. I am sure Dream heard this and knows Buzz loves him (insert prodigal son reference here) and will help him succeed. This is glorious stuff.
My respect for Buzz continues to grow. He could have flamed and blown up at Berman for being such a dickhead (and you can tell he wants to...), but he didn't. He could have just ignored the question, or tried to incite Berman. Instead, he took the high road and chose his words carefully, while subtly calling Berman out. I love it. I have the utmost respect for our basketball coach, and hope he sticks around in the Burg for a long, long time. He's one in a million.
