This post is probably more self serving than anything, but I did feel compelled to reveal that I have recently accepted a new and much more exciting job offer! I am entering my final week working for Bobcat, and starting the 27th of March the new fun begins.
The sad part is (although this job is paying me hella better and will be so much more enjoyable and gratifying on a daily basis) that I gotta give up the cushy Mon-Fri schedule.
This does mean (most unfortunately) that my weekly reign of terror in Lot 18 during football season is at an end. My goal now is to make at least one game a season.
This really is very bittersweet for me. I have met so many of you magnificent bastards there. The idea of missing out on the fun there is very hard for me to get past. But I also know that the crew there is going to keep the magic happening with or without me; Long Live the Last Great Grass Lot!
And just like Vigo: I'll be back

(Yeah I went with Vigo over Arnold. Convince me I'm wrong)

While it definitely won't be the same without you, we will all work hard to carry out the Lot 18 shenanigans. We need to make sure that the TKP flag still flies high over the guard rail corner and the bierstick has a home in our crazy little piece of paradise. The games that you do come to will be all the more fun and crazy. We will sit a Busch Light on the rail for every game you miss. Your Lot 18 family is happy for you but we will miss your crazy @$$. π€ͺ And you will always have a home in Lot 18.
Long live the last illustrious meadow that is the glorious Lot 18!!!!!
Bitch, I bought a parking pass for this season too!
On another note, congrats!
We also got a parking pass for this season, and I'm 90% sure we'll never actually use it for ourselves π
If it makes you feel better I also bought a parking pass and a season ticket.
Congrats! You still need to beer stick before every game! Does someone else get to drag your trailer to Lot 18?
So that was never mine; Frank owns all the goodies. I was just the loud guy that wanted to meet everyone. Me, my truck, and the flagpole. We created quite a colony.
But the normal setup will still be there along with everyone else.
Frank and the rest need to post in here so everyone knows who they are.
Well Frank reads but I am the TKP nerd if that particular group. But plenty of everyone else is on here all the time!
I'm here!
Good to know you know where the non-Nascar forums are...I was beginning to worry.
I venture outside the race track from time to time...though, Martinsville week is almost here and I'm pumped!
I post plenty thank you very much.
I do too!
When you pass the flag along, make sure that you give all the parts of the flagpole to whomever has the flag.... We don't want to have to put all the engineering degrees to work and put the flagpole together with straws again.
I may pass the flag off but it is not my fault that nobody there can keep it erect with out me.
Umm Chic Fil A straws have the industrial strength of steel apparently.
Umm, phrashing.
I never said the flag was not erect. I said that the engineers had to use their degrees. I just said the one who in in possession of the flag needs all of the parts.
So where you working now?
I have been asked not to say anything until they take care if some stuff. There is absolutely nobody on this site that it would matter if I told but I'll keep it to myself for the moment.
But anyone that knows what I did for about 15 years previously, it is incredibly related to that.
I didn't know Southern Xposure was hiring
Nick does have some smooth moves. However, that is going to have to be one large pole for him to swing on.
I wasn't a stripper dummy I was the head pimp or whatever they call it.
Nick learned his smooth moves from Billy Bob in Varsity Blues.
My god, he's going to be the new replacement for the Philly Phanatic.
Does Philly need another mascot?
So someone recently pointed out that I never came back and said what I was doing, which was nice to know people were interested.
Anyone around the Fredericksburg area has probably aware of Central Park Funland, most likely.
Well it is now known as Funland of Fredericksburg, but it's an average size family fun center that has a lot of things going on at the moment!
I am the new Director of Maintenance, and good good have I been busy. Buy the good news is that after about two months, I can honestly say this is the first job I have ever had that I am enjoying so much it's hard to get me to leave. Very good feeling at the end of the day.
But here is the big project! And I urge you to come check it out once we are open because it is pretty kick ass. Opening June 8th! First multi level go-kart track in VA: The B104.5 Thunder Speedway!
So if we drop your name, all TKPers get a discount right? LOL
But seriously, Heather was thinking of bringing Kalli by there this summer and bugging you for a bit.
Yup! We have a deal on wristbands. And it's always good to have fun things to do over the summer.
Any TKP person coming to Funland please let me know. I will make it worth your while.
Should I bring Kalli during the week or should we all come on a weekend?
I mean the weekends will always be busier, so the week will be easier to do what you want.
I live in the area (King George), I'll try to swing by. I'll make sure I ask for that Busch-swilling Director of Maintenance, and point out something inane like one of the corners of astroturf is peeling up about a cm or so on hole 13. I have a feeling that asking for wasknick might not work. ;^)
So you are in charge of maintenance and you want us to come ride that death trap looking thing? You're insane!
Personal apology from me to anyone who drives over the edge.
Oh well then that sounds great! only a couple more weeks then.
So the guy who didn't have pins for the flagpole is making sure that place is running everyday? /s
You son of a bitch I was in Mexico! It's not my responsibility to make sure a pole can stay erect in Blacksburg!
Hey, those Chik-Fil-A straws worked just fine.
And using them showed creativity and ingenuity. Engineers and teachers figure out some random solutions that work. If the straws had failed, I am sure that somebody had some duct tape that would have worked just fine.
Are we allowed to be "buzzing like the bee" while we drive
At the moment we do not serve alcohol (will be changing soon though) so you will have to baste yourself in your own sauce before you get here.
We are doing a VIP party for the media event before it is open to the public though that will be tailgate style and open bar.
So I guess the answer to this question is yes, as long as you are still coordinated enough not to act like a drunk.
Can I just bring in my camel pack of bourbon?
This guy knows how to party.
That's a MarioKart Track.
Great, now I need to drive down to Fred burg. Thanks a lot for that...
Wow is that an addition to the oval track they had? Grew up circling that thing (probably over 15 years ago)
The Oval, AKA NASKART (nope I did not pick the name but did laugh at it), is still there. This is replacing the old road course they used to have.
Although the guard rail is not finished, I can tell you that this is quite fun. The down hill feels very fast and the turn at the bottom is tight.
I took my first full circuit run today. It's bad ass yall. The tight turn at the bottom of the big down hill will be a drift turn if you are good enough. Almost done.

How tight? Like 90% of people are going to spin out levels of tight?
Nahh. It feels tighter than it is, and I was only sliding tonight because there is still quite a bit of construction dust.
Ok last one but worth sharing.
That is, umm, ... pretty tight....
JK, really cool!
But you didn't yell "NASCAR!"
I wasn't the one driving.
That was completely unrealistic, there were no turtle shells roaming the course, not even a banana peel. What kind of cut rate go kart is this?
