Hokies in the NFL 2019

Welcome to another year of me trying to find every Hokie on a professional football contract. I will try to find every roster move in NFL as best I can. As always if you see a roster move please add a comment with it. I will not be doing any CFL or arena league anymore. It's really frustrating and time consuming feel free to add them in the comments for others if you wish.

Steelers needs to trade for Tremaine so they can recreate this:

We just have to hope they don't cut Trey honestly. This is going to be the smallest NFL active roster list in the 4 or 5 years I've done this on TKP.

What is the average for the past 4-5 years? Only looking for an estimate.

If we count practice squads about 14-16. Active roster only 10-14. But there is a lot of fluctuations each year. Injuries, IR, cuts etc.

Vinny Mihota is trying out for the Redskins Link

Reavis is currently 1st on the depth chart at SS for the Jags. Doubt that lasts till preseason, but he's in line for playing time.

Reavis popped on the screen from day one. Was a huge loss. Sure would love to see a guy on d do that this year. (Pop that is, not get kicked off)

He has been doing a lot of work this offseason (pretty much all of his insta posts were working out and training), so I'm definitely rooting for him to succeed. Wish him the best of luck.

shocked to see cj cut after a very good off season and preseason where I thought he would push for the starting job even though they brought someone in during the off season.

Pittsburgh Steelers

RB Trey Edmunds

The Steelers' tailback room is full with James Conner, Jaylen Samuels and draft pick Benny Snell Jr., but Edmunds has been hard to miss during offseason work. He won several drills against linebackers in the open field and looks comfortable in the system as a two-year NFL veteran who also has played for New Orleans. The big brother of Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds will be difficult to cut. Other candidates are rookie receiver Diontae Johnson -- quarterback Mason Rudolph says Johnson has caught every ball Rudolph has thrown -- former CFL star receiver Diontae Spencer and maligned cornerback Artie Burns. -- Jeremy Fowler

Trey's roster spot would likely come at the expense of Travon McMillian's potential spot. Just sayin.

2 time Longwood grad married to a Hokie.

Actually you're wrong! Legend has it, when he was born their doctor forgot his glasses that day and accidentally skipped a line on his baby forms (probably what those forms are called). The doctor wrote his height where it said "name" and his weight where it said height. Having horrible handwriting what the doctor meant to write was "too much in." but it read as "temuchin". On the next line, what should have been 8 lbs. 13 oz. was read as 8'-13", which was scribbled out and replaced with 8'-14" before the family left the hospital the next day. They say that even to this day, Temuchin is still growing ever taller trying to reach his goal of plucking the sun from the sky so that he can immediately fall to the ground for a long needed rest.

Clearly a rising commodity. Glad Wyatt will get to play on a team on the rise too.

Listening to PMT this morning, apparently Teller asked to play in the last preseason game for the Bills after finding out he was traded to the Browns.

It would be awesome if all 5 of the active Edmundi and Fuller brothers ended up on the same team one season.

I'm pretty sure this would cause a singularity.

I'm a little surprised about Phillips. From what I've seen and read, he seemed he had made progress for the Bills and they liked where he was at. Plus its not like that squad as a top notch group at WR anyway.

I'm worried this might be the end for Ford though. Miami, while they won't publicly admit it, are definitely tanking. If he can't make THAT roster (and this is after missing out and being on the practice squad for the last 2 years as well) then it probably isn't gonna happen for him at the NFL level.

Per MMQB, both Logan Thomas and Antone Exum have been resigned by the Lions and 49ers, respectively.

4, It's interesting that the Browns cut Greg Robinson a week before their opener. But if you want the code cracked here, you might want to look at the Lions releasing, then re-signing Logan Thomas, the Niners releasing then re-signing Antone Exum, and the Bills releasing, then re-signing Kurt Coleman. In each case, the team needed to hold a player who wasn't vested (less than four credited years) on the roster for 24 hours, in order for that player to be eligible to return off IR. I'd think the Browns would be doing that with Drew Forbes, like, for example, the Bills did with Jason Croom. Of course, that there's not a huge concern in exposing Robinson to the market, at a position like left tackle, where demand is high (see: Tunsil, Laremy), raises other questions about how big a concern the offensive line is for Cleveland right now.

If you're not sure if my comment warrants a "/s", it probably does.

Exum back with 49ers, I'll never understand this cut on Saturday resign on Sunday NFL stuff.

It's cap related stuff that only the experts get anyway (and I bet some of the people the teams employ don't get it all). Just roster manipulation (legally) save a buck here, keeps rights on a guy there, etc. I'm pretty decent with the NBA stuff but I gave up trying to understand the NFL rules and guidelines

There is some IR related stuff as well causing some of the roster maipulations. If a player is put on the 53 man roster for >24hr then put on IR then they can return later in the season. If they are put on IR before the cut to 53 they have to sit out the entire season.

So, some guys get cut so teams can put other players on non-season ending IR. After 24hr, the players can go on IR and previously cut players get picked back up to fill out the 53-man roster.

Practice squad is less complicared. Players have to be cut so they can go on the waiver wire. If they clear waivers they can then be brought back to the practice squad. This gives a player the opportunity to make a roster elsewhere (more $) instead of being stashed on a practice squad. Practice squad is 10 players and a player can be picked up from a practice squad by any team, but that team has to keep that player on their 53-man roster for 3 weeks and pay him roster money.

Other times players get cut to make room for other free agents, but deals fall through or the target player picks a different team. Then a cut player gets picked back up after clearing waivers.

Teams have to keep dancing around that 53-man limit and when everyone cuts at the same time, a lot of silliness happens to avoid being caught with too few or too many players.

Fans of both fanbases were pretty upset with Reavis and Isaiah Ford being cut. Hopefully good news will be coming out soon on each.

Another white bronco? The first one didn't go too far.

How about Facyson, Ken Fuller & anyone else???

Just read an article that they expect Facyson to make the roster.

Read a Chiefs article about how they are in a weird cap situation that might make it difficult to lock up Kendall longterm. However, it seems like fans/writers are very upset about the prospect of letting him walk after this year and want to give him a deal (that he deserves).

The chart above gives all those answers.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Join us in the Key Players Club

Yeah I know. Thanks. I was just curious if there were any additional details not covered on the chart.

I think some cut and paste got after ya on the chart. You have an O instead of a C for Active, unless my eyes are getting messed up...

Its you.

I can't see your image, but figured I would post what I'm seeing for reference.

Edit: Even when I get really close to the screen, the "c" still looks like an "o"

I guess I need to bump up text size settings, cause it's definitely off on mine.

Only more than Wake, Syracuse, GT, Duke and one higher than UVA as far as the ACC goes. Even with BC. Everyone else in the conference has us beat on representation. Squarely middle of the ACC pack behind Pitt, NC State, UNC, Louisville, and all the unsurprising ones.

EDIT: Actually that statement was using ESPN's latest data which shows 3 more than are in this picture. Not sure of where the discrepancies are or how accurate the other schools may be. But best guess is we're still in the same ballpark - 8th or 9th in the ACC.

The Browns brought in a few guards in the offseason which ended up putting Wyatt on their roster bubble. There was talk that he was going to get released. Now he's Second string with a chance to take over for Kush instead of being a 2nd or 3rd option.

The Browns OL is bad, but the majority of the bad is OT. As a Browns fan I would be mad if they traded draft picks for a player and then released them a month later. I will be double mad if it is Wyatt.
