Now just to clarify, I am not guaranteeing a win at Notre Dame. But I will say that for some reason I have the same feeling at this moment as I did 2 weeks before the Eagles beat the Patriots in SB52.
Maybe its the elation of a 6OT victory in a HUGE game for a number of reasons (recruiting, atmosphere, possibility of keeping bowl streak alive, still chance at Coastal title, etc). Maybe its blind homerism. Maybe its just that I didn't want to quit on these Hokies and in the last few weeks they havn't quit on us.
Whatever the case may be, what happens if they actually go in and knock off Notre Dame? Sitting at 6-2 with a signature win, not something any of us would have dreamed after the Duke game. I feel like Fuente's offense may in fact have a few wrinkles we havn't seen in awhile now with (TWO!!) running threats at QB. There just isn't that much tape on Hooker, and even less on QP who can straight up just run over people, especially as he checks in bigger than any LB on the Irish roster. The offensive line played with a streak against UNC I have not seen in awhile. And the defense, which still gives up way too many big plays, started making some of their own when it mattered most.
I watched a team find an identity and scratch and claw their way to a 5-2 record in the process. I see a team that isn't expected to win, and therefore might not feel much pressure at all in front of Touchdown Jesus. I see a team that can pull this off and make a run that none of us saw coming..
