VT takeover on ACCN - Sunday 4/26 -- schedule got changed

ACC Network is cycling through all of the teams, giving each of them a full day of content.

VT is on Sunday, 4/26.

Football games include 2014 Ohio State (12-3 am), 2018 uva (9 am to noon), 2003 Miami (5:30-7:30 pm), and the 2007 ACCCG (9pm to midnight).

We also have games on Saturday vs. uva, but it's 1998 and 2019.

A highlight of Pitt's day is the 2007 WVU game -- where a crappy Pitt team beat #2 WVU and knocked them out of the national championship, all part of the craziest college football season ever.

Looking forward to some good VT football

When is Pitt's day? Would love to watch a replay of that.

That's the "EAT SHIT PITT" game, I believe

What non-football is scheduled? I am thinking VT softball over Team USA has to be on there. For MBB, maybe the first win over Duke under Greenberg?

Throw a little Mekhi Lewis in there as well.

I would love for a 30min special just on his tourney matches during that run. He defeated the 1, 2 and 3 seeds to win the title. His championship match is still one of my favorite Hokie moments ever.

12a: Football - 2014 Ohio State
3a: MBB - 2010 Wake Forest
5a: MBB - 2020 UNCheat
7a: Softball - 2020 USCe
9a: Football - 2018 uva
12p: WBB - 2020 uva
1:30p: Track and Field - 2020 ACC Indoor Championships
3:30p: MBB - 2019 Michigan State
5p: ACC Traditions: Skipper
5:30p: Football - 2003 Miami
7:30p: MBB - 2019 Duke
9p: Football - 2007 ACCCG vs. BC

The 2007 men's basketball games against Duke and UNC would've been far better picks than the 2020 UNC game.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

The overtime game against UVA in 2018 sure was intense, but I think I'd rather rewatch the 52-10 shelacking we put on 'em in 2016. Then again, it won't be as bad for my blood pressure this time around.

This was my first thought, I dont know if I can't take that kind of stress and I KNOW the outcome.

P.S. One of my friends saw the final score of the UNC game this past season before watching it. I told him to have fun figuring out what was going to happen. He said watching it was the most mind blowing experience he's ever had because there are at least 5 sports the game should have ended.

I'm so upset that I missed this

I'm just going to say what so many of us are thinking; "I miss Hokietapes on Youtube!!! Damn you YouTube....Damn you to hell."

Go Hokies!

hokietapes gets taken down and then the ACCN does stuff like this. Coincidence? I think not.

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

Poor little ACCN which has been pretty much a flop so far trying to get every bit of ad revenue they can.

It would have been really cool if they were able to unearth one of the games from our run in 1999 for this thing (maybe the Miracle in Morgantown); a lot of younger Hokies including myself obviously weren't around to see Tech football at its best. The 2003 Miami game will be cool to watch though.

I honestly don't know who would be able to re-air the Miracle in Morgantown, because it was a CBS broadcast via Big East rights with WVU as the home team. Now, we've seen ESPN re-air CBS broadcasts (SEC games, the Masters) so that's probably the easiest part of the deal.

But which conference would control the rights? WVU and the Big 12? The American as the successor to the Big East?

Sidebar -- I was hoping for some MV7 action, as I didn't start regularly watching until 2002.

Good point, I didn't think of that, my guess would be ESPN and the Big 12 but that's a complete guess.

Then again, the American Athletic Conference owning the rights to a football game between ACC Virginia Tech and Big 12 West Virginia, played in 1999 before the AAC was even a conference, sounds about right. Kinda like how for a while the Big 10 had 12 teams and the Big 12 had 10 teams.

Along these lines, does anyone know of a non-Hokietapes source where I can watch: (a) 1995 Sugar Bowl; and (b) 1999 Sugar Bowl? I've got the nostalgia itch...

I like, but grasping at some missed opportunity here.

2017 WVU is a game I would love to rewatch
2009 season Orange Bowl vs. Cincinnati
Either of the Nebraska games
2007 FSU
2010 ACC CG win over FSU. Tyrod put on a clinic
2011 Miami, watched this recently, loved the back and forth in this game.

And the Horseshoe game is at midnight? Midnight?!

Yeah, I'm not sure why they picked the 2007 ACC title game over some of the others.

I either would swap timeslots with OSU, or if it had to be a title game, go with 2010.

But then again, they also picked the 2006 GT/WF ACCCG as a spotlight for one of those teams.

Unless you are leaving your tv on ACCN all day, you probably want to check your listings if there is something particular you want to watch. The LOLUVA game came on at 8 instead of 9. When I was looking at the guide it said that Ohio St was at 4:30 instead of the 03 Miami....

I was fired up for that 03 Miami game, just checked my DVR schedule to see it wasn't recording any more... ☹️

Okay, this is annoying. I set the DVR for OSU and Miami. I got a Wake Forest MBB game at midnight instead. It cut off at 2 am, but it was the kickoff of a football game against Miami, I'm pretty sure from 2019.

Updated schedule (from the link I found below):

Midnight – Men's Basketball – Wake Forest at Virginia Tech (Feb. 16, 2010)
2 a.m. – Football – Virginia Tech at Miami (Oct. 5, 2019) * - change
4 a.m. – Men's Basketball – North Carolina at Virginia Tech (Jan. 22, 2020)
6 a.m. – Softball - Virginia Tech vs. South Carolina (St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational) (Feb. 14, 2020)
8 a.m. – Football – Virginia at Virginia Tech (Nov. 23, 2018)
11 a.m. – Women's Basketball – Virginia Tech at Virginia (Jan. 19, 2020)
12:30 p.m. – Track & Field – ACC Indoor Championship (Feb. 27 – 29, 2020)
2:30 p.m. – Men's Basketball – Michigan State vs. Virginia Tech (Maui Jim Maui Invitational) (Nov. 25, 2019)
4 p.m. – ACC Traditions – "Skipper"
4:30 p.m – Football – Virginia Tech at Ohio State (Sept. 6, 2014)
7:30 p.m. – Men's Basketball – Duke at Virginia Tech (Feb. 26, 2019)
9 p.m. – Football – Virginia Tech vs. Boston College (2007 ACC Championship) (Dec. 1, 2007)

Has every other team's "takeover" day been this much of a clusterfuck? What an embarrassment that the ACCN can't even get their shit straight to put together one days worth of previously recorded events.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Apparently they changed it twice.

It looks like they came up with one schedule, put it on the cable guides. Then they shuffled the games around and put out a press release. Then they realized that they couldn't air 2003 Miami, so swapped it out with 2019.

I get having to replace a game (sorta), but I don't get why they couldn't just put TBA on the cable guides until they locked in their schedule.

It's even funnier that the ended up airing the 2019 Miami broadcast disaster. Anyone happen to watch or record it? If so, did they manage to actually show the final play or did it just cut off and end like the original broadcast?

Sure it was a win over Miami but between the broadcast and game flow, I can't imagine too many Hokies were eager to watch game that again.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

We DVR'd it because HokieEnginerd saw on the guide that it was 03 Miami (which is how it shows up on the DVR playlist). I will watch later and let you know.

I was very excited when I saw Miami 03 on the DVR--thinking that they switched that with Ohio St---- I started to watch it and was very confused when I saw a sunny day in Miami instead of evening in Blacksburg.

I saw part of the replay when ACCN did their entire 2019 football season in review when the pandemic started. The replays do include the last play of the game after ESPN faded out too fast on the original airing. (Which was still more of an officiating error than broadcast.)

Confirmed. I didn't watch the whole game, just fast forwarded to the end. The whole game is shown including what happened after ESPN cut away.... It was great to actually see the last pass batted down too.

One of the worst things about that game (other than letting Miami back in the game) was how far up Miami's butt the announcers were that day.

I wasn't really thinking and turned on the tv just in time to see Willis throw the interception at the end of the half in 2018. I about had a heart attack all over again.

I only watched bits of that game. I still flipped out the last few minutes of the game..

So far so good....hokies up 21-7 over the buckeyes at the half on a sweet td by Sam Rogers!

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

So did the buckeyes even know that Malleck and Byrd Byrn were on the field? They were wide open in the first half...

Sorry, wasn't paying attention as I typed and fat fingered....

The Scot Loeffler offense overall wasn't tremendously successful at VT, but man he could really scheme up a good game plan from time to time, and that OSU game was a perfect example. I also really miss his passing game concepts over the really simplified passing game we employ now TBH.

I forgot how much of a nail-biter this game was.

Classic VT. Get them boxed up with a big play, let 'em out. Get them boxed up with a big play, let 'em out. Keep chewing those fingernails.

There is one 3rd and long where Brewer, backed up deep in our own end zone, completed a gutsy and perfect deep out route to Ford for a 1st down where I remember saying Damn, I don't know that we've had a QB like this before. Somewhere maybe in the 3rd quarter. Brewer left it all out on the field that night.

He wasn't always perfect, but he was a baller, and there was no quit in him.

Interception for a touchdown!

VT beats Ohio State!

Masterful game by Bud Foster. More topsoil for the lunchbox.

Was almost as good the second time.

Watching the 07 ACCCG and I gotta say football was so much better back then. Kam LIT this guy up in the sideline and the ref didn't even think about reaching for his flag.

Touchdown Tech!!!

Watching part of the USC-Texas Rose Bowl, my wife and I saw a blatant horsecollar, which of course was not a thing in 2006. She said it would be interesting to get old games redone with current announcing that would be pointing out all the rule changes.

Was fun while it lasted, but I've seen some serious helmet to helmet contact in some of these old games.

Bumping this because the ACCNetwork is doing team takeovers again. They started Monday with BC.

Set your DVRs, VT's day is Aug 9th.

yesterday was fsu, so they showed the 2005 acc championship...

So that explains that.

Flipping through the guide, I see "Virginia Tech" and get all excited, and then I see "2005 ACC Championship" and then, well, I probably had a facial expression like Mr. Brockmire there.

Had the 07 BC game on over the weekend. I just figured it was "Shit on Tech Week." Nightmare fuel.
