Hope Isaiah Wilkins still has a scholarship.
Sheesh... what a fumble here. Especially after a kid transfers.
Damn, I hope you're right too. It would really suck for him otherwise.
They may be begging for him to stay. Who knows how many will stick around for a new coach.
With Childress leaving, Wilkins would be one of the top 5 players on that roster easily.
First firing I've seen that has worse timing than the Greenberg debacle.
I wonder if it had to do with a date passing in the contract which lowered the buyout. Even if its the case, its a poorly written contract to wait til the end of April. Should be April 1 at the latest.
Or they needed that much time to pass the hat to collect the buyout.
They owe Manning $15M! Didn't think it would happen. The AD resisted a lot of big donors who were going to foot the bill. Very surprising to me because I thought it died down. I'd look at Wes Miller, Ryan Odom, Pat Kelsey and Steve Forbes.
I'm not surprised that he was fired. I know a guy that's fairly plugged in to WF and despite the buyout, he was saying they had gotten enough checkbooks gathered they were gonna fire him anyway. The major donors were tired of putting up with what Wake has become but the covid outbreak put a pause on their plans. Haven't spoken with my friend yet to know what happened (I don't really care enough to text him) but I guess something changed and given them more confidence to move on their initial plans.
