Coach Fuente tired of being at home Tweet Fest.

What started out as Fuente tweeting once earlier today has turned into a late night fan fueled tweet a thon. Some of the highlights for me were:

Coach being active was awesome to see on my timeline tonight. And the most important part of it all:

Saw at least 3 other people donated too.

The whole staff's Twitter presence during the dead period has been something else. Doing a great job getting content out there during the dead period where recruits can see it while still toeing the line.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Props to Tre's for his honesty and self-critique of his workout performance. He still managed to become a stellar receiver and has a bright future ahead of him.

Also in response to the Tre tweets

So coaches CAN tweet at recruits?

They're doing everything but that.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

At this point there are no rules Bama gave players Apple watches so their staff can track their workouts. Both of which are NCAA violations.

No, but once it's obvious the 2020 season isn't going to be played we can just self-impose a post-season ban for 2020 and then everything is fine.

This is the "Georgia Tech" method.

I LOVE J'Ham's message right now... its what VT football is all about!

Is coronavirus over yet?

Coach is back at it today.

Need more of this side of Fuente to show.

He's a legitimately funny follow.

Few were complaining about Fuente's public persona when VT won 19 games in '16 & '17.

IMO he's far more lighthearted and self-deprecating than the crowd here suddenly gives him credit for and he hasn't particularly changed.

I think because a lot of times the tone of what he says doesn't translate in print and people will read a quote and not really grasp the "he said with a smirk and a twinkle in his eye".

This is good to see though

But this is the kid of side of him, and the program, that we don't get to see when it was walled off for so long. I'm glad his personality is finally starting to show, and I think it's a great change he's made for the betterment of not just VT but his own career.

And the thing is, if we had seen this side of him in 16-17, it would have only made that year more epic in the end.

I could be wrong, but I think a LOT of it has to do with the media being the intermediary in him communicating with fans. He seems to be more open and himself when he's putting stuff out directly for the VT fam.

Well yeah after the Kentucky bowl game he legit laughed when a reporter said sorry for your loss and responded with "it's okay nobody died". The dude isn't a robot and has a sense of humor for sure.

Going to have to start a new thread called "Friday nights with Fuente" he tweeted last night and was taking questions from fans.

That sounds like a good idea for us that don't have the twitter. I have no idea what goes on over there till it gets posted on here.

That pic looks like something out of a late 80's/90's movie....

Every time I see it, "Don't you forget about me" starts playing in my head...

Powerful gunslinger energy

Kind of reminds me of the backup to Lance Harbor

He's got a bowl cut and 80s feathered hair, I'm both impressed and mortified at the same time.

It just hit me who he looks like in this picture (albeit with dark hair)

The Jordan special has been on ESPN. These young kids think Lebrun or maybe Kobe is the greatest of all time GOAT. Fuente has to keep them straight.

Jordan = GOAT
Lebron = Wilt wit more championships

Name does not check out

He stole it from me!

MJ was going up against the janitor of a local school, and Lebron has to battle 20 other Lebrons in the league.

Yes, MJ had his fair share of good players he went up against, but it's just not the same competition. MJ is great, and his era will never be forgotten, but Lebron would be a better player head to head.

And let's be honest, Kobe was better than both.

TKPhi Damn Proud
BSME 2009

And let's be honest, Kobe was better than both.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Didn't MJ's bulls take on the Lakers with Kobe and Shak, and win? And Stockton and Malone? The NBA used to allow a LOT more contact when playing defense and Jordan still dominated teams. The NBA has gone to favoring the offense so much that defense pales in comparison to what it used to be.

My money's still on Jordan.

They also beat those tough Ewing Knicks teams

Hand checking would stop so many players these days, having said that Lebron is a freak of nature and I dont think the more physical play would affect him since he is build like a brick wall. Now if Jordan played today he would probably never developed his jumper because no one would stop him going to the basket. The Charles Oakley's of the world are no longer in the league. Pat Riley doesn't get to coach anymore.

Todays league is run by wing players and analytics so it looks much different. There were tons of talent players in the early 90s (payton was probably the best on ball defender in the league, Starks sole life goal was to guard Jordan, Isiah Thomas, Reggie Miller, Penny Hardaway). I mean that era created the dream team.

Compared that with today where metrics have Chris Paul being one of the best players ever, but he's making Dan Marino's post season career look amazing. And Chris has had talent around him.

One thing people don't take into a lot of consideration is zone defense. Had to play man-to-man or double in Jordan's era. Zone in most of Lebron's era. It changes how the game is played.

yeah I thought about thay after I wrote this, and jordan probably would have had to develop his jumper due to zone

Jordan and the Bulls did not beat a Kobe and Shaq Lakers team in an NBA Finals.

From memory so probably not correct:
98 Utah
97 Utah
96 Seattle
93 Phoenix
92 Portland
91 Lakers?

Probably right. 91 Lakers? Magic and Byron Scott? Way before Kobe. Not sure if that was the implication

Not picking on you, just for those who say that Kobe was better than both MJ and LeBron:

If Kobe was that much better, he couldn't get his team (with Shaq) to the finals any of the last two years Jordan played? You know, when Kobe was young, and Jordan was 34-35 years old? I want to say that the average age of the bulls in 96-98 was mid-thirties.

TIL Shaq joined the Lakers in 1996. Damn I don't remember that at all! Four years it took them to win it all? I don't understand why I don't remember that.

Kobe went to the NBA straight out of high school. Jordan went to 3 years of college and another 7 years in the NBA before his first title. I don't think you can compare a 19 year old Kobe to a seasoned Bulls roster

Kobe was still really young and the team had to grow more confidence in him he was the 13th pick not #1

Go for it

Wilt is the GOAT both on and off the court. Nobody in NBA history has scored at will like that. Averaged 30.1 points and 3.7 women per night.

Who are these folks, and what have they done with the boring VT Twitter game?

Some of it is downright amusing.
