Not to be the guy who reads too deep into these things, but I feel like it's somewhere between unusual and not a good sign that there isn't a QB anywhere here.
Although, it would indeed be ironic if 1 or more of the awards went to someone entering the transfer portal and leaving. That would certainly look strange.
Was there a QB worth giving it to? None of the guys were exceptional any way or another. It'd be like picking the best RB out of MacMillian/Peoples/Holston/McClease a few years ago.
Hopefully the Hokies get their own Sam Howell in the future.
Yea... that's kind of the problem I was getting at...
How the heck did Dax not win the Freddie Cobb award for most spirited?
You mean the Sam-Rogers-of the defense, the towel twirling, sprinkler dancing, high energy, totally dedicated Hokie?
That was my question too. I mean the dude is always a ball of energy. He's like the Energizer Bunny on Red Bull mixed with coffee.
Who won the.... most likely to end up in the portal award??? *Ducks*
*Ducks behind you*
The JUCO guys from that year have been pretty solid so far. Barno is an NFL talent and flashed that, Crawford has been very disruptive when healthy, Murray has been solid, but his value has been moreso in his availability. With the Farley opt out and Waller missing almost the entire year with injury he gave us valuable veteran snaps in a CB room that featured several guys who we never expected to play much and a true frosh Strong (who was a very pleasant surprise to be good so early). The jury is still out on Cunningham because of injuries, but he still has time to make an impact and provide depth. It's difficult to argue those weren't solid pickups for the most part.
Hewitt has always been a beast in the weight Room. Barno: heck yeah well deserved - thank you tnt for getting him up to speed. Our special teams are going to have a new faces next year
Two Hokies in the Top 12 picks award. Pretty cool to see two Hokies before two Alabama players.
