I definitely noticed that they highlighted Hooker AND Quincy - and NOT Burmeister. Not sure if that is a message to the fans, or if they simply see Hooker and Quincy as team leaders and faces that the fans know. They have both been in a high visibility role with the team for several years now. I think it is clear they are BOTH leaders on the offense. Burmeister is still very much an unknown commodity both on and off the field.

Love it. Great to get some honest insight into the program, you can you can also tell whoever guides the conversation off camera was aiming to try to pull some fans back onto the Fuente/Corn train. Glad to hear what the players think about them. Now all that's left is to win.

He expressed hope for future football success based on a player's apparent athleticism. For DC, that is unbridled optimism imho. And I am on record as enjoying his vitriolic takes as well. He makes me chuckle, which ain't bad for a HT.

Based on what I have seen from them on the sidelines I would have guessed their demeanor would have been flipped. QP seems calm and quiet on the sidelines and Hendon seems more animated, in this interview QP was doing all the talking.
Also I am always so glad when our guys are personable and well spoken on camera, I don't want to be known as a school of dummy football jocks.

These guys seem to like the coaches, and are certainly showing a different perspective on the feel of the locker room than you often see assumed in internet forums.

they hit on: the qb room and if qp will transfer, the culture and locker room, cornys play calling, jet sweeps, Fuente and his connection with the players, anything and everything you want to hear. this is a must listen. silence the critics fellas.

It definitely had the feel of being a bit scripted, but i wonder who wrote the script. This could have easily been their own idea or staff's. Regardless, it is great to hear.
I wonder if it had been an interview format if it would feel more authentic? If they keep rolling these out, as expected since it is labeled a series, they will probably get much better. I also like the way they are doing it. Fuente is paranoid of the media (maybe rightly so after recent events) but there is more than one way to provide exposure for the program. I hope they use this format to replace some of the snapchat stuff from recent years once practice rolls around.

whoa. VT athletics youtube channel stepping up their game!
Edit: This one video almost deserves its own thread. Some thoughts on what QP and HH said. I totally agree with their praise of Corn and at the same time reinforces my criticism of him. "Mastermind of schemes.. My football IQ has elevated" I have no Doubt that Corn is a great offensive mind. I agree he's a fantatistic schemer but IMO sometimes he over schemes. He runs a tricky reverse on a critical play when power plays have been working so well.
Also, them talking about everyone trolling Corn as the "Jet sweep king" is very interesting. I did not realize the players were so hyper-aware of it. I guess we can thanks social media.

I loved him early on and was excited when he was performing at VT around 2011. His set was terrible though. He did maybe 20 minutes after the three guys he had to open for him all performed twice. Really disappointing.

And what really irks me is when people try to argue that the Coastal is actually a really competitive division. All seven teams just won the division the past seven years. That is the definition of the circle of suck. Really hope we take a step forward this year.

Agree with your point, mine was similar but more we should talk shit on a high, not after losing the Coastal in the biggest pile of shit teams of the last decade. Who played Clemson? UVA. We don't need to be bitter runner up. We can wear it, and then get better.

Love the hardhat mentality, but I hate the hard hat they hand out. Everyone knows you need to go full brim to be cool. Specifically you need to go MSA Skullgard Full Brim in tan.

That's cool and all, but at this point the program need to see wins, not just words. I think Fuente understands that and the actual mentality is a good first step.

Brock is very serious. Like, he doesn't crack a smile as if it would break his face in half. He'd just as sooner smile as he buries a nose tackle eight feet in the ground, chugging beer and punching the ref in the balls. The ref won't flag him for unsportmanship conduct because he know Brock will F5 him into the ground.

I knew they worked together, but didn't know they lived together. That explains a lot about why Teerlinck would go to college from an NFL job. Pretty cool that Fuente has been able to get his gang back together. Hopefully that shared vision and experience will result in a common drive and vision that is more powerful than the individual members of the group.

After watching this, I wonder what most people would rather have, Fuente hiring his buddies that he grew up in coaching with that have great chemistry or, would they still rather see him bringing in proven coaching talent that all have their own way of doing things.

I would think so. So far the common theme is that the players think the fans do not know the real Fuente(s). I think that's partially because Fuente was the man who replaced THE MAN (Frank) and the other part is purely Fuentes fault for not being more engaging with the fan base.
I like the changes that have been made so far, and this series is a good step in the right direction, but man I just feel like Fuente made it harder for himself then it needed to be.
Got to think that has been a big learning curve for him vs being at Memphis. It's not all about coaching, you gotta kiss babies too.

He should feel slighted, he won the weekend award 5 times out of a possible 12. If you are the best at that position for almost half of the year your are probably best for the season.

if your entire post is a link to a youtube video, at least embed the video, please.
I tried to. I can embed them in comments, but for some reason when I add a new topic, the embedding doesn't work.
It's really not a big deal....not embedded, you click on the youtube link, a new page opens and the video starts playing automatically.
embedded- you click on the video and it starts playing.
Same amount of effort required by the reader, only difference is whether a new page opens or not.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But then so are the Community Guidelines that say, If you're referencing a Tweet, article or YouTube video, link or embed it. Provide a source.
Congratulations!!! We've hit technically correception.
I don't settle for technicalities. He did link, thus he followed said guideline.

Sorry. Just following the rules.

Grizzled Fuente with a beard is the best Fuente for the offseason.
Just needs an eyepatch so he can be Punished Fuente, a man denied his Coastal titles.
So...Fuente is a pirate after all.
Wrong reference lol
So...Fuente is a pirate AND Snake. Shit.
someone is at least addressing the issue of fans feeling unconnected from the program.
someone is at least addressing the jet sweeps
Sweeping them under the rug.
Wondering if the hard hat is going to replace the lunch pail.
Not sure - the hard hat seems like a whole-team thing where the lunch pail was always just defense.
Something with QP and Hooker dropping at noon
It was good. Now they need to break down some film in a similar format.
Also, gotta wonder if both guys have passed Burmeister at this point
I definitely noticed that they highlighted Hooker AND Quincy - and NOT Burmeister. My guess is this is more the case.
put. it. in. my. veinsssssssss

QP is a large human being. I would love to see him on the field a ton this season.
Positivity? Stop it! You're confusing us 😜
That QP is large is a fact, not positivity.
that he "would love to see him on the field a ton this season" is, though
If he's on the field a ton, it could be due to injury.
DC negative as always
He expressed hope for future football success based on a player's apparent athleticism. For DC, that is unbridled optimism imho. And I am on record as enjoying his vitriolic takes as well. He makes me chuckle, which ain't bad for a HT.
That's funny. I didn't notice the word "success" in there anywhere. I guess it's implied positivity? Or just relative positivity?
All he said was that he's large, and he hopes he's on the field. We agree on that, by the way.
Not sure why this post is catching DV's, but leg to you Key for balance.
I think he would be devastating at H-Back
He is very polite. Met him and Leticius once and thought they were very down to earth gentlemen.
God i want that lunchpail VT hoodie Hooker is wearing so bad
I would pay a good chunk of money for one
Jet sweep king, LOL!

This is a pretty overt response to a lot of the criticism around the program lately.
These guys seem to like the coaches, and are certainly showing a different perspective on the feel of the locker room than you often see assumed in internet forums.

There's a group of people out there that will hear this and not believe and ounce of it.
Speaking the damn truth here.
It definitely had the feel of being a bit scripted, but i wonder who wrote the script. This could have easily been their own idea or staff's. Regardless, it is great to hear.

I enjoyed it, and thought it was pretty decent.

I believe they see that the plays can work, and that sometimes it's not so much the scheme that falls flat but the execution.
As the offense gets more experience, I really hope they're right, and that some of these plays start working.
Hooker and Patterson are two nice and grounded young men. Great to see this video.
Let's check in on the Soft and Floppy Sun Hat Series
I have so many
Kevin Hart..awesome in Jumamji movies and for meme. Hated his stand up though.
I would accept this after you have seen any of his specials for the first time. I think his stand up is funny as hell, but they're all the same.
I loved him early on and was excited when he was performing at VT around 2011. His set was terrible though. He did maybe 20 minutes after the three guys he had to open for him all performed twice. Really disappointing.
What. The. Fuck.
Ever.
I guess they want their players to see the field like a video game.
One from the eighties.
Complete with pac-man noises.
I don't know. I really don't.
WTF?
I mean honestly it looks like it could be fun 🤓
This seems as stupid and dumb AF... However, there's absolutely no question who the tougher team is right now.
Looks like a team that played in the ACCCG.
And what really irks me is when people try to argue that the Coastal is actually a really competitive division. All seven teams just won the division the past seven years. That is the definition of the circle of suck. Really hope we take a step forward this year.

Looks like the team that lost the ACCCG.
This even further infuriates me that we lost to them last year.
Love the hardhat mentality, but I hate the hard hat they hand out. Everyone knows you need to go full brim to be cool. Specifically you need to go MSA Skullgard Full Brim in tan.
You watch your tongue. We normal hardhat guys are still cool.
I keep one of each, just in case I run into one of his ilk.
That's cool and all, but at this point the program need to see wins, not just words. I think Fuente understands that and the actual mentality is a good first step.
Love the vid.
I nominate Ashby and Dax for the next installment
https://youtu.be/UimODAZgPtk
On mobile so don't know how to embed but here it is!
Hokie sports media going all in on the juice. Next "Hard Hat" will feature Brock Hoffman.
They added "loyalty.unity.trust" to the tag lines. We sure have a lot of tag lines.
It's becoming a manifesto.
YEP! I want that!
Another great installment
This is frickin' awesome! Love this kid, can't wait to see him on the field.
First impression.
Brock is very serious. Like, he doesn't crack a smile as if it would break his face in half. He'd just as sooner smile as he buries a nose tackle eight feet in the ground, chugging beer and punching the ref in the balls. Damn they broke Corny out of the box haha. Great vid
My feelings on this series so far

Please keep this going!!
I'm excited for this!
I didn't know all of these coaches worked together years ago. Let's see how the gang does all back together.

It's all going to be figured out with wins and losses.
This whole series has been solid so far. I wonder if they got the message that they need to do a better job engaging the fanbase
BuT OpEn PrAcTiCeS WoUlD eNgAgE tHe FaNbAsE MoRe.

Dax is Country Joakim Noah.
This is great. It's nice to know that Ashby doesn't feel slighted for not making 1st team All-ACC but Dax is mad about for him.
He should feel slighted, he won the weekend award 5 times out of a possible 12. If you are the best at that position for almost half of the year your are probably best for the season.
I love this, thanks for sharing!
