I would like to make the motion that after the season completes, the ACC officially renames this to the "Landers Nolley II Freshman of the Week Award"
For the fifth time this season, Landers Nolley II from @HokiesMBB is our Freshman of the Week! He averaged 21.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 2.5 apg as the Hokies claimed wins over Syracuse and NC State. pic.twitter.com/qIw8ZCMPbG— ACC Men's Basketball (@accmbb) January 13, 2020
Make it No. 5️⃣@NolleyLanders earns @accmbb Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season 💪• Recorded 29- & 13-point performances in two ACC wins• His five honors tie @Zionwilliamson & @CobyWhite last year📝 » https://t.co/NInXgLh7gR#StoneByStone | #Hokies 🦃 pic.twitter.com/U7qmBa6BCg— Virginia Tech Men's Basketball (@HokiesMBB) January 13, 2020

No worries, by the end, ACC voters will make Cole Anthony the Rookie of the Year despite Nolley dominating the weekly awards
I agree. He is only getting the awards now because he is on the better team, and sprinkles are for winners.
Nolley for FOTY
3rd team all Freshman* You can't win the weekly award too much or it actually drops you down the standings
Hmmmm
This just keeps me coming back to what could have been last season with Nolley and Clarke.... sigh.
Robinson + NAW + Nolley + KJB would probably have at least had us in the Final Four. Just having NAW and Nolley together would have pushed us over the top in quite a few games we lost.
Biggest question for me is who is Nolley taking minutes from in this situation? You couldn't have played him and Outlaw together cause neither one of them can guard a houseplant but both are essentially the same player, with 30 year old Outlaw probably a better shooter and a lot stronger than freshman Nolley
Nolley is a better playmaker than Outlaw was. With him in the lineup, you'd have 3 guys who could consistently beat their man off the dribble and then Blackshear down low to to clean everything else up.
Outlaw was a great player but starting Nolley over him is a no brainer. IMHO:
Starters: 5, Hill, NAW, Clarke, KBJ
Bench: Bede, Nolley, Outlaw, Horne
I think we have a legit chance at a natty.
Nolley's sneaky good, isn't he? My wife invariably starts griping about him missing a shot or seeming lazy with the ball, but then I have to break the news to her that he's got like 18 points, 5 or 6 rebounds and a handful of assists, and she needs to think about it for a minute. He's smooth, like NAW was, not flashy and I really love the way his game has progressed. Certainly deserves the accolades.
Nolley is a really damn good basketball player and i love it😂
His turnovers are a real issue.
Yeah but he makes up for them most the time
They're an issue cause there's no one else to create offense in the half court. If the shot clock is running out the ball is in Nolley's hands. Gotta live with them.
I think he is inconsistent. He can fill up the scoreboard, and sometimes he plays on an elite level at both ends of the court, but other times he looks asleep on defense or can't hold onto the ball on offense. lucky for him (and us) he's just a FR and will improve on the weak parts of his game
If All-ACC linebacker is any indicator, this should be good for 2nd team All-ACC frosh team - behind 4 guys from Carolina schools and some guy from Louisville averaging a triple single.
"I heard that Sharpe kid Carolina signed is supposed to be good. Might as well get a head start on next year's ballot and include him."
