The Hokies play Boston College at Boston College today at 2PM. The game is on ESPNU. BC is 9-10, 3-5. Their ACC wins are at Notre Dame, Wake Forest at home and Virginia at home. They lost at Duke, at Syracuse, at Wake Forest, at Pittsburgh and at home to Georgia Tech.
In a shocking surprise, BC will be taller than the Hokies but not by as much as some teams. The do have 6'11" Popovic, who has only played in 2 ACC games but averaged 16 pts/game. He is also averaging 3.5 PF/game. Maybe we can get him in early foul trouble. Without Popovic, they are only slightly taller than the Hokies. However, I don't see anyone Cone can guard; it may be hard to keep him on the floor if his man is scoring easily.
BC is not a good 3 pt team, shooting only 28% in ACC play; but they do shoot 40% overall. They have allowed 46% overall and 37% from 3. Tech should be able to get our shots from beyond the arc. If we can shoot our average from 3, this may be an easy game. They have 8 assists and 9 turnovers per game. They are only scoring 62 points per game and allowing 73. They have been outrebounded by 8 per game. On paper, this looks like a game the Hokies should win; but BC has been tough at home, beating UVA and WF.
