Flying Snakes at Virginia Tech

I found this very interesting. I personally had never heard of "The Cube" while I was a student or at any time since graduating. I found the sentence "biologically inspired, flying robot snakes." to be quite terrifying and 100% something I would expect our students to spearhead. Get on it smart people!!

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I have witnessed snakes clear my deck. Or launch themselves from the grass, and hit a hole in the lattice under my deck.

I got to watch them fly in the cube during grad school, very cool. Dr. Socha is an awesome guy and a fantastic researcher.

The Cube was built as part of the Moss Arts Center. It's unique - four stories, catwalks surrounding each floor, and the ability to be adaptive. Kind of the inverse of a Borg cube... Its been used for many interdisciplinary projects and is an amazing space for creation and activation of projects - everything from amazing VR for youth, to performances, to flying snake motion capture.

And no surprise there, it's Wally Lancaster with an airball that looked gorgeous on its way to nowhere...

The look from Indiana was priceless.
