OT: 2020 TV Shows: Quarantine Edition

I'll start by saying a 5 minute search in the tracker didn't show any recent threads on TV shows, so forgive me if I missed it. With all of us unfortunately stuck inside a lot for a while, I figured a new thread on what we're watching could help pass the time.

As cheesy as it seems, I've been binge watching X-Files. I am near the end of season 3 and I prefer the episodes where the overall story arc is front and center, versus the 'monster of the week' episodes.

I plan to start over with The Man In The High Castle, since I forget what the heck is going after not watching past halfway through season 2.

That opening scene of Hunters episode 1 though?!? Damn...

Any good recommendations to get us through quarantine?

Messiah is good
Dracula
Expedition: Bigfoot
Mindhunter
Star Wars Clone Wars/Rebels

Thanks. Mindhunter is amazing. I wish there was another season out.

I can honestly never think of all the shows that I watch when these things pop up. There are a ton more that are awesome. I watch a ton of cryptozoology and alien stuff but, not many people are in to that stuff. The Sinner is pretty good. Sex Education is watchable if you like Gillian Anderson. Blue Book on Hulu.

Dude, crypto anything and ufo / alien stuff is my jam! Hit me up with the best you know.

Wait, what?

Expedition: Bigfoot
Expedition Truth
Expedition X
Ancient Aliens
Monsters and Mysteries in America
In Search of Aliens
UFO Hunters
The Alaska Triangle
Destination Truth
Survivorman: Bigfoot (Les Stroud)
Anything Small Town Monsters releases on Amazon
Chasing Bigfoot
On the Trail of Bigfoot
Expedition Sasquatch I and II
Missing 411: The Hunted

Those are just some I can come up with off the top of my head

Thanks!

Wait, what?

I really want to binge The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but I can't find it anywhere. It would be the perfect show to take one's mind off the tough times.

Twitter me

Agree. I don't know where to stream it either.

Started watching Gentefied on Netflix last week. Super good, first sitcom-style show to grab me in years.

Every time a thread like this comes up I have to chime in with The Expanse. Best sci-fi on "TV" right now.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

I binged all 4 seasons too fast and was extremely sad when there were no more to watch.

Go back and watch Eureka again.

is this a specific episode?

Eureka the TV show.

The books are also really good. The show stays pretty true to the source as the writers are the showrunners, but the changes they've made in the show have been very appropriate so far. Season 4 was probably better than the corresponding book, actually (likely the weakest book in the series but overall a pretty good season of TV).

The Taco Chronicles on Netflix
The Plot Against America on HBO.

I just finished the third season of Castlevania on Netflix. I can't recommend this enough whether or not you are an animation fan (i'm not, and love the series).

I have the Expanse, Altered Carbon (season 2), and Altered Carbon: Resleeved on my to-watch list.

The problem/challenge I have is that my days now are one constant parenting and conference call meeting, so getting any actual work done is creeping in to the evening hours, then add graduate school, and I have zero time to do much TV watching.

There's is nothing wrong with binge watching X-Files 😃

just getting into Schitt's Creek

I started watching it recently too.

It's like Arrested Development so far

Yes, Schitts creek is hilarious.

Was much better than I expected. Short episodes that are very easy to watch, and will make you laugh.

I'm currently re-watching first two seasons of Man in the High Castle. The show drops off a bit in season 3 and 4.

Chernobyl on HBO is a great watch. I'll be watching McMillions and Succession next after Man in the High Castle. The newest season of Narcos is also on the list.

VT '10 #AllMaroonEverything

Finally getting back into Better Call Saul after I stopped watching early in season 2. It appears I stopped right before it really started getting good, glad I have a few seasons worth to catch up on in the next couple of days

It's awesome. I want to watch season 4 I guess it is but I'm waiting to binge it.

It's a current show so you can't really binge it, but Lego Masrers is actually surprisingly fun and enjoyable if you're a nerd like me.

I having been trying to get through Voyager for years, by far the worst of the trek series but I am trying. Finally 6 episodes left, I think I can do it. After that Narcos, Narcos Mexico and Peaky Blinders are in my Q. And Ozark season 3 next week!

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Finally did last night, what a sappy ending.

Just started watching Manifest on Hulu. Only through 2 episodes right now so hard to say. Also watching Homeland on Hulu as well which I'm liking a lot.

The wife and I got a bit of nostalgia going on too and started watching Family Matters. Urkel is definitely one creepy dude through 2020 lenses. Also was surprised by the wild west dream sequence in one episode that has Rachel running a Saloon/Brothel and singing about getting guys upstairs quick so she could get paid. The wife and I were like WTF are we watching. I remembered that episode because Carl shoots and kills Urkel but definitely didn't remember Rachel being a prostitute.

My initial thoughts:

Dirty Jobs
I Almost Got Away With It
Mythbusters
Survivor Man
American Greed
Old VT games on YouTube
Cutthroat Kitchen
Deadliest Catch

Edit: bad SciFy movies on Comet.
Stargate

Just recently realized top shot is on prime video. Reality shows are better without commercials. Any shooting sport enthusiast (and others that are not) will enjoy it.

"I am probably too rational to be here"

Yeah, I enjoyed Top Shot. The challenges they made up were crazy.

thank you for starting a catch all thread so hokie fireman doesn't start one for every new show he comes across 😅

my roommate and I are watching Naruto Shippuden and new episodes of Clone Wars as they are released

The Outsider on HBO

Vroom Vroom

In my opinion this was good right up until about episode 3 or 4. Then it got so boring that I didn't care to finish.

Undone - Amazon Prime
The Watchmen - HBO
Bojack Horseman - Netflix
I am not okay with this - Netflix
The end of the F**king World - Netflix

I've been through all these already, ..nothing new really catching my eye.

I recently watched The end of the F**king World again and it was much better the second time.

And thank you for reminding me to re-watch Bojack Horseman.

Venture Brothers - I always recommend it and although it isn't for everyone, if you like it, you'll love it

Letterkenny - Canadian comedy and you might as well understand the references in the gifs the rest of us are posting

MASH - classic TV

Star Trek - pick a series, any series

All of the Marvel Movies in chronological order - Start with Captain America and go from there. What else are you doing?

Impractical Jokers on TruTV-silly at times but also LOL funny too.

Holy crap, Tiger King on Netflix. My best friend described it as "If Florida was a show". It is a horrible train wreck of humanity that I cannot stop watching

Tiger King is a must watch. We're have have the finale to go. To say it is a doozy is a massive understatement. Hard to believe that these people actually exist out in the world.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Apparently there is a pretty good podcast that lead to the Netflix special.

I just have a hard time imagining that there are enough words that could accurately describe these...creatures. One has to see them to believe it's true, and even then, it's still unbelievable lol

Ozark Season 3 is coming this weekend!

We're planning on jumping into that series once Tiger King is over lol

It's kind of like Breaking Bad. A little more fast paced though.

I'm finally jumping on the Marvelous Ms. Maisel bandwagon, and enjoying it.

I'm currently enjoying a new show on FXX, Dave. It's a comedy loosely based on the life of rapper Lil Dicky. Even if you don't enjoy the hippity hop, its still a pretty good show so I recommend people check it out.
