All I ever hear is that Burmeister is athletic. So he is either so athletic that he might be able to threaten the other two or it is a nice way of saying his arm isn't so great.

I think we would have learned a lot at the Spring Game.

doubt this happens in 2020

would have learned

I think this kinda implies that expectation. :(

Can you imagine a scenario where we might put all three quarterbacks in the backfield at the same time?

Burmeister receives the ball from the center, and hands it off to QP who runs toward the line like he is going to plow ahead for yardage, but QO stops after he has drawn in the linebackers and tosses a short pass to Quincy crossing over the middle. Quincy turns up field to score.

However unlikely, it is fun to imagine what sort of night-mares, defensive coordinators might have game planning that. Who is going to get the ball? When the get it, are they going to throw or run?

Yeah, I clearly scrambled that up. I'm going to blame it on lack of sleep but what I meant (and I am sure that most of you knew what I meant):

I could see envision a shotgun set with QP playing running back and having BB coming in left to right in a jet sweep motion (so BB could have a run-pass option)

Remember all those times we put Evans, Williams and Wilson on the field at the same time in 2010?

/cries into beer

Not really? Did we ever put all 3 on the field at once? From what I recall, at least one of them was always dealing with an injury at some point.

The triple wing baby

so who is moving to tight end.....

If Braxton is so Athletic, I'm wondering if he would switch positions to wide receiver and maybe return some punts allowing Tavyon to focus full-time at receiver.

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Lol, he's going to transfer if we ask him to play WR. He came to VT specifically to play QB.

Is this kind of like the 3 seashells?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

KCCO

Na, there were many games showing we knew how to use 2 of the QBs. Maybe not expects at it, but no one has a clue on what to do with the sea shells.

For quarantine fun, we should list the P5 schools that Burmeister would have been granted immediate eligibility to last year. And no mention of any of the guys being passed by Knox Kadum on the depth chart, which is good.

Does KK transfer? He's not unseating the 3 above over 2 years, and Double D is coming in. He'll have 2 years. After lighting up GA HS football, I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda shocked.

Wouldn't shock me if he ends up at JMU at some point, where he was originally committed.

Although if the one-time transfer with no penalty to sit ends up being passed, it's almost impossible to guess where he could end up because that takes away one of the biggest advantages FCS teams have with transfers.

"All three will have major roles"

Oh boy, hopefully that's just camera talk and the best QB plays. Or.... each QB gets a quarter and the best stats plays the 4th. /s

The most important thing I picked up from this video.....does QP remove the Q from his jersey now that Phil is gone?

"All three will have major roles"

Whoever said "if you have two quarterbacks, you have none" never prepared for the three QB system. I guess the hope is we're like the San Diego Chargers when they had Flutie, Brees, and Rivers at the same time?

Based on the comments in the video it seems like the pecking order is still HH, QP, then BB. They were coach speaking around naming a starter, but it definitely seemed implied this was the order of perceived readiness.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Jet Sweep

Hooker started the most games and played the most. Patterson started one game and played some. Burmeister didn't play at all. That probably determined the sequencing.

According to most coaches, being a back-up pushing the starter to work harder or not get complacent is a "major role". So is being a third string, emergency QB that never plays a down. So is being a simulacrum of an opponent's quarterback in practice. It is just coach-speak.

I would bet all three will see some amount of game time over the year. Too easy to get one QB injured here or there. If the worst thing that happens is that the BEST of these three guys plays all year, I would gladly take that outcome.

That's some in-depth analysis there.

I would think the cancelling of spring practice really hurts QP and Burmeister. Neither has many reps with the 1st team offense (compared to HH) or ability to expand the playbook. Unless there is some modified summer practice to replace spring, I'd guess there isn't much of a competition at QB this year, especially when penn state comes to town early Sept. Not enough reps to let those guys develop and demonstrate they are ready.

I agree that cancelling spring practice hurts Burmeister in particular. It would have been a great opportunity for him to really show his abilities and his grasp of the offense in some live situations with and against quality starters. Also have to think spring ball would've been a great opportunity for some of our young receivers to try and separate from the pack and fill the void left from departures at that position.
