Good to see but a long ways to go after only 3 games. VMI on Thursday night.

so...aaron moorehead didn't trademark the phrase then? Or did he go to PJ Fleck's weekend seminar and now he's gonna sue Mike Young?
it's such a common coaching cliche that nobody can claim it. Rutgers was definitely using it in Greg schiano's first go-round like 15 years ago
I think Jack Del Rio's Jags locker room cemented the terms place in infamy.
I love this coach.......... Go Hokies!
And ranked behind the UVa team that lost to San Fran. Grrr.
It's ok, we're coming for them.
I never get angry about these things when we have the opportunity to settle it on the court. Just makes the win over them sweeter.
UVA lost to San Fran who lost to URI who lost to Arizona State who Villanova who lost to Tech. We are already better than UVA after 3 games.
Yet the team we beat is ranked higher (their openly loss)...totally makes sense.
At this point in the season a lot of voters are still voting on potential and eye test more so than results. They're probably also considering that Nova lost in OT on its 3rd game in 4 days, one of which was beating a loaded Arizona State team.
Just pointing out the absurdity of these polls. Would love to hear arguments from the pollsters...the team you said is better, literally just lost the other team.
I would've ranked VT over Nova, I would like to see more ranking based off of results rather than speculation
I am actually surprised we jumped that high given how we weren't even receiving votes in week 1. I think everyone, especially the team, needs to ignore the rankings (of VT) for at least another week or two. Too many teams with one or no games played at this point, even in the Top 25, so the talent evaluation and bodies of work are still very infantile.
But, putting my O&M glasses back on, super excited for these kids because they have definitely worked their butts off to get to this point. Much praise to CMY and his crew for taking our minds off that dumpster fire over in Lane stadium!
Raise your hand if you saw being 2 AP polls positions from being the 2nd highest ranked ACC team this year.
Put your hand down Little Steve
Highest voted position: two voters had us at #8
They have those good drugs
This is what I am excited about. Great engaging coach, fun team to watch, and ability to win games no matter the competition. F Fu.
CMYBall FAM!!!
Damn the bye week works wonders /s
For those wondering, the highest ranking we have had under Justin Fuente is 12th.
I am sure glad I never said anything about this hire, looks back at past posts, sigh...
Hey most of us questioned the hire. The context is the other coaches he hired. He did a phenomenal job putting his staff together. He essentially admitted a weakness in recruiting and hired some of the best recruiters in the country and it shows.
Absolutely. The hiring of Ace Custis at the end was just the perfect little cherry on top of what was already a pretty darn good recruiting staff.
Obligatory...

I was over the moon with the Fuente hire initially, and pessimistic about Young. I think most of us were, honestly.
Objectively, those weren't unreasonable reactions at the time. Just because Fuente didn't work out doesn't mean it was a bad hire on Whit's part. Fuente's failure is primarily on him, he could absolutely have been successful at Tech but he wasn't. The key now is for VT as an organization to identify what went wrong and take steps to avoid repeat mistakes. Which of course doesn't mean we won't make all new mistakes.
AHHHH SHIT SUCKY DUCKY QUACK QUACK
