That is the biggest 12 year old I have ever seen.
He reclassified from 2026
We can get him a tac shaver for when he hits puberty.
Throw in a spurtle for his midnight Ramen dinners
The anti Justus Reed
Awesome!
Film reminds me of Danny Coale
Lowkey plaid-level comment - I howled at this
Who in the know can do a quick SWOT breakdown on him?
247 Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer had this to say:
"Average size and athleticism. Plays strong with the basketball and does have active feet. Utilizes crisp changes of direction and deceptive change of pace moves. Has good court awareness. Shoots a nifty floater. Is a serious shooting threat from behind the arc. Adept at navigating the high ball screen. Average defender and rebounder for his position."
He also compares him to the guard at Villanova Collin Gillespie.
Leg! Thank you!
Sounds like a smaller version of James Harden.
LOL k
Not quite as athletic but I think he'll do Seth Allen kinds of things for an offense. Can't leave him open but he doesn't elevate on his outside shot. If you overplay the outside he's more than quick enough to get to the basket and can finish in traffic.
Needs to get stronger. My biggest question is his defense.
Seth Allen you say?! That will always be welcome in the burg! Leg!
The Seth Allen comparison I've seen before. One of my favorite things about Seth that Sean will bring is looking for contact on drives and finishing strong through it.
Welcome to the team Sean. May you never know what a loss to LOLUVA feels like.
Seems like a first guy in the office, last one to leave kind of guy. Deceptive speed, coaches son. Real heady player.
Coach's son? Student of the game?
Gym rat. Real cerebral guy.
Surprisingly Athletic
Real scrappy. High motor, no quit in his game
Deceptively quick
Makes the hustle plays. Always the first guy off the bench to greet players.
He is listed as a point guard but I would expect him to begin in more of an off ball shooter, pro reference would be Steve Kerr like outside shooting. I second the comment on needing to get stronger and his defensive reaction at the top of the key leaves something to be desired. Likely will have to follow around an outside shooter rather then battle a true point guard at least in the beginning.
What are the odds that we ever see a redshirt in basketball ever again? Seems like we have 2 deep already at the guard positions. If he is not up to being an immediate 3-and-D kind of player, seems like the redshirt year and some strength and conditioning would be better for his long term potential than 3-5 min a game.
You seem unfamiliar with the history of VT hoops.
Bede and Diarra are both set to graduate next year. Sure they both get and extra year technically, but will they take it? Bede might (which would be awesome) but Diarra will probably get drafted unless he has an pretty bad season. Bamsille probably goes draft as well, in which case we'll definitely need an extra guard to pick up ~6 min a game or so
It would be pretty surprising if Diarra got drafted. It isn't easy for seniors to hear their name called in the NBA, and there is barely any buzz around him at the next level. I would say Diarra needs a breakout season, not just a non-bad season.
With regards to Bamisile, I think its way too early to call. I think you are underestimating how difficult it is to get drafted in the NBA
I hope you are right and we have players that dominate enough to leave early for the NBA, but I don't see any at that level right now.
Unfortunately with the way free agency is going in college sports, and where we rank in the current order of things, I dont see this happening
If you're interested, this AAU game is a pretty good look at who he is as a player. A few quick thoughts:
He doesn't have much explosiveness, but he certainly isn't afraid. He's a willing shooter, but what impressed me is how he handled the pick and roll offensively. He'll need to get a little more muscle behind some of his passes, but the vision and feel for where all his guys are in the half court was nice.
He's going to be a liability defensively, not just because of his athleticism but also because of his size. I think we should put 6'1" 175lb in hard quotes here.
But that being said, don't fall into the white guy trap. He's not a Hunter Cattoor. He can dribble, pass, and even found his way to the rim a few times–which surprised me, tbh. I think I'd describe his skillset as "nifty", doing the little things (head fakes, moving people with his eyes, etc) to make up for his lack of burst. He seems like a backup point guard who can stretch the floor for guys like Bamisle and Maddox.
