Tre Turner entering 2022 NFL draft and skipping bowl game.

Makes sense with him wanting to get healthy for draft routine.

Hate to see it, but I don't blame him. Get healthy and ready to ball for NFL teams pre draft BPT.

Not a surprise. Go make some money, Tre!

You were a thrill to watch working the field in the Hokie jersey. Best of luck to you in what ever uniform jersey you will be wearing.

Will miss him at the Bowl, but get healthy and get paid.

Love this dude. Go get paid.

Wishing him the best of luck. Shame he never had a chance to truly develop given the shortcomings of the prior regime. I hope he got good feedback on his chances in the draft. Would hate to see this turn out to be another Evans-type situation where he is not taken. Really wonder if he could have used another year with a good offense - here or through the portal - to showcase things and be in a much better position in December 2022.

He got invited to the Senior Bowl, which usually means people in the NFL think fairly highly of him. He's not going undrafted unless catastrophe strikes

Sad to see him go but glad he stuck around this long. He has the talent, just has to stay healthy and enjoy playing in a real offense somewhere.

My favorite game for him was 2018 vs. UVa. Unreal performance from a freshman.

Glad for him, no need to risk injuries. Get paid son

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Good for him, played several games this year when he easily could have packed it in with the injury. Drove 17 hours to a road game...says alot.

Taking time away from NFL prep to play in a meh Bowl Game makes no sense at this point.

Hope he performs well and finds success at the next level.

Best of luck to you, Tre. Would love to see you in a Falcons jersey, but I'm not sure I'd wish that on anyone I like right now.

I think you meant a Packers uniform. They need another star WR.

I like how you think.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

I could careless that he will not be available for the Belo Food Pickle Bowl. Simply glad we made a bowl and happy for him.

I could careless that...

Thanks Big Play Tre, hopefully we won't have to count on the offense to win games for us anymore :).

I wish Tre nothing but the best, but I think he's going to have a rude awakening come draft day.

Sincerely hope I'm wrong.

He does at least have speed which will help.

He's fast and his body control to catch balls that would otherwise be uncatchable are unteachable skills. IMO he needs to work on getting off the line faster/more physically and work on his routes he's subpar in both of those but I think he can be a late round grade because he'll jump off the screen at points.

(add if applicable) /s

I hope someone takes a flyer on him, he ends up in a good developmental situation and has a long career.

I think he'd be better served staying in college another year, even if that means transferring somewhere with an offensive system that works with his skillset.

He got invited to the Senior Bowl, which is usually a very good sign for his prospects as long as he does well there.

As expected

I think Tre can have a nice nfl career . Good for him .

Good for him...but is he really going to have that much success at the next level? It seemed like he was pretty good at making plays and coming out of 50/50 balls with it, but he's also had several crucial drops and he's never been very good at getting separation. From my recollection, the nickname 'Big Play Tre' was because of his ability to turn a shitty pass into something. I feel like an NFL secondary is going to make him a non-factor.

Put him with some good coaching and getting stronger in the weight room. He will be just fine.

The problem is he is behind his competition in both of those. He's got some catching up to do.

Edit. Wrong thread

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

He was one of the brighter spots on some bad, bad football teams. He's more than paid his dues.

Hope it comes back to ya, Tre.

MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

I love Tre and what he has meant to this team. My current measuring stick is Isaiah Ford. So is Turner better than Ford? That is the question because to my surprise Ford has had difficulty making a 53-man(?) squad and getting snaps in The League despite being one of the best ever at VT, and producing for the Fins when he has had those chances. Actually I see Tre as similar to Ford in size and ability to grab a ball from the air especially in close quarters to coverage. So my take is that Tre definitely has what it takes but I have been disappointed in Isaiah's struggle to get playing time, so I really don't know. I'll be pulling for Big Play Tre to get in a good situation where he gets a fair shot or two to prove himself.

I actually think Freeman was better than Ford at Tech from a pure ability/skill stand point. However, he didn't get the opportunities that Ford did because of the offense that we ran back in the 90's.

Yeah that is why i said "one of" the best ever, and not The Best Ever. I mean after all, Ford didn't have XXXL gloves.

Missed that - not enough sleep last night.

That's cool, but do you think Turner is better than Ford? To me that is an intriguing question.

I think Turner had more potential coming in but Ford got better coaching and was better prepared for the next level. Tre has a lot of catching up to do as NFL coaches don't want to teach the basics of route running, they expect the WR to know that stuff coming in. Hopefully in his NFL prep he can get some real coaching, too.

This is reassuring to see.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Yeah it is. I really hope Tre gets a shot in the NFL. He has been a great representative of the school and got a raw deal in the end.

Tre has every right to hold a huge grudge against VT for how he was utilized and distance himself. Wouldn't be the first time somebody in his situation did something similar. It's beyond awesome to see he has real love for the school and isn't taking that path, I hope so bad he can get a real shot in the NFL and make the most of it.

Nor somebody in his position
