Is this this post re-draw result?

Yes it is...sorry, should have put that in the body of the post

What time is the third draw? I hear Real Madrid are pissed they got a tougher draw so when are they gonna get UEFA to go again lol

Not stoked about drawing PSG after the re-draw, but you face these sides eventually as you progress, and it would bring me great joy to knock out PSG early after the way the summer window played out. So I guess the better way to describe it is that I'm quite excited, but I definitely fear Mbappe, particularly over two legs.

Bayern, Man City and Chelsea gotta be feeling pretty good about their draws.

As a Liverpool fan, I'm glad ManU have to go through the root canal that is Atletico.

PSG and Real should be fun viewing for the casual observer. Can't wait for February!

Chelsea got crazy lucky after losing the group - I would have bet they were getting Bayern in this round, after dropping the match last week.

Not so great for PSG or ManU

they ended up with a major draw for PSG like they got from the 1st draw.

Know they wanted hat messi v ronaldo with their attempt to fix the initial draw. been saying it for years and finally messed up live. sportsbetting3.com still has city favorites but PSG could beat anyone if they all turn up.

What an absolute hit from Martinez after a horrendous pass out from Matip to make it interesting before the ref kills the game by a second yellow for Sanchez. Looks like Liverpool are going to get away with a poor performance after all.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Get away with a poor performance.

Come on Nator...
Were we stuck in 2nd gear, sure, but we had a 2-0 lead after leaving the San Siro. Poor performance or not we had enough to get through to the next round. That red card could've come out far sooner after that tackle on Thiago. Not to mention we hit the post 3 times.

Did we get by, by the skin of our teeth, sure, I'll give you that, but don't discredit the ability to go into the San Siro and leave with a 2-0 lead that allowed us to get by with a below standard effort. Fighting on four fronts will do that to a squad πŸ˜‹

I meant it as in the ref made it alot easier for you guys out by being the ass that he always is. I cant stand that ref he makes it all about himself all the time and he just throws cards like bills at a strip club. The tackle on thiago was high but it wasnt a red and to me the second challenge was just fine he wins the ball cleanly and completely and fabinho is late to the challenge. Inter were starting to really turn the screw and create some good stuff and had it killed by that idiot of a ref. Both of his challenges were part of the slow it down and it makes it look much worse than it really is at full speed the second one was a joke fabinho was late to the challenge and didnt even get any of the ball but somehow sanchez was supposed to not go for that and just leave it for liverpool to win back possession.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

I admit the ref was trash! I disagree that he made it easier on us. I think he made the match difficult for both teams. I will agree to disagree that those two tackles were harmless. Still shots on the Thiago tackle shows studs to the femur area, I don't care if it's in slow motion or real time, that's a bad tackle, and the Fab tackle, I admit was soft, but the player is responsible for pulling out of the tackle when he notices that his studs and motion will go into the opposing player. The video confirmed that Sanchez didn't even pull up at all or alter his path. All in all, I'm glad to move on, but I think this loss is just the serum that is needed to show the team that staying in 2nd gear doesn't guarantee a win. Hopefully it'll be a good kick in the pants for us

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

My point was mainly on the ref but I'll agree to disagree on the challenge but still enjoy the discussion either way! Was still a fun game to watch and as a united fan I'm more of a observer anymore than a fan as my team is ass and won't be in. The cup after next week anyway unless we get a miracle.

How many goals did Lewandowski have in the first 23 minutes today?

Such an underappreciated talent...

He's been screwed out of the last two Ballon d'Ors. Should've won one, but they cancelled during COVID and Messi got one ahead of him for some reason last season.

"That move was slicker than a peeled onion in a bowl of snot." -Mike Burnop

The french FA Ballon D'or is a popularity contest at best everyone knows lewandowksi shouldve won the last 2 and if he keeps this season up he should win it again with messi and ronaldo stinking it up lately.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Especially with, what, 42 goals in 35 competitions for club this year? Sheesh.

@BuryHokie #ThanksFrank

"for some reason" lol.. messi was a better footballer than lewandowski last season. similar goal/assists numbers in a more challenging league and won the copa america against a loaded brazil side.

Lewandowski scored 64 goals in a calendar year messi wasnt close to that but because he won an international trophy somehow thats better than a player going on an absolute year long tear the way lewy did. Even messi said he deserved it at the ceremony its not hard to see who was better last year. Messi still tore it up but lewandowski has been top notch for the last 2 years really and still is at that level.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

He did not deserve to win the Ballon D'Or last year. He had zero noteworthy performances against top sides. Easily outplayed by Mbappe over two legs as barca were knocked out in the Ro16. Didn't score against Madrid or Atletico en route to a 3rd place league finish. He was one of the worst players on the pitch in terms of performance for Argentina in the Brazil final.

He wasn't even close to the odds-on favorite until AFTER the Copa America. They gave him the ballon D'or because he finally won a real international trophy (helped greatly by the Copa America being played in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2021).

That Brazil side was also probably the weakest version they've fielded in years.

edit: Another big game performance from Messi tonight in Madrid. 9 straight matches against Madrid without a goal for him.

Benzema and modric masterclass absolutely sensational effort and what a choke by the Qatar weeny club. Poch will get sacked for that but damn modric was amazing with benzema.

That run and that sensational pass to vini was unreal the way he played that through a super tight defense. I will be very sad when modric is done as he's always so much fun to watch.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

People in the office had to think I was fucking crazy with my random celebrations lol

My dog has stitches so I'm trying to keep him calm but I unfortunately riled him up when I lost it when benzema got the third goal what insanity.

Where have we seen PSG choke against a Spanish team at this stage of the tournament before?

Just....wow....
What a choke job, Poch must be on a plane to Manchester instead of heading back to Paris. Yikes!

Is he set to become the new manager of FC United of Manchester?

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

That's the "other" Manchester United-the one started by fans after the Glazers took over nearly 20 years ago, not the "real" one

Ahhh yeah that one I thought it was more of a joke on the club name forgot about that one.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Looks like the ever classy PSG president went on a tirade last night after the final whistle trying to find the referees locker room or atleast thats what the press is reporting. Most of the PSG guys playing captain deflecto blaming the ref for allowing the first goal to stand as the reason it all fell apart. If you're messi do you leave in the summer from this mess and see if you can get back to barcelona maybe?

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

I doubt Barca would say no to a Messi return, and he's earned that honor, but they finally moved on and desperately needed to for their rebuild to be possible, both financially and from a footballing sense. They are finally finding a good rhythm and run of form under Xavi.

That was my other thought kind of like ronaldo starting to fall to earth maybe we simply are seeing these guys start to decline in ways we never realized they would. Barca would I think be good with either way I cant see him being around as a bad thing and Xavi would or atleast seems to command that room so I feel he probably could handle slowly working messi in/rotating him out.

Diogo Dalot and Slabhead made renan Lodi look like a world beater. Horrid performance from man united on the night nobody played well but Maguire was total shit as usual. Subs were all useless rashford came on to misplace a few passes and dribble a few times but again they simply look lost.

Quarter Final draw is out:

Benfica v Liverpool
Manchester City v Atletico Madrid
Chelsea v Real Madrid
Villareal v Bayern Munich

Cautiously optimistic. Other than driving past their stadium once, I don't know much about Benfica, but it seems like a lot are happy with the draw. Grateful we didn't draw either of the English teams in the Quarters.

Kind of a big upset for them to beat Ajax last round. I think Liverpool should easily handle them.

3 Finals secured

Up the F&king REDS!!!

I truly believe this will be the best LFC team I'll ever watch in my lifetime, regardless how the next month and a half goes.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

I've been a sort of casual Liverpool fan since the late 90s when Michael Owen played for them. I've picked a hell of a time to start watching them more closely

Onward and upward

I've been a casual fan since the Stevie slip (I'm a sucker for a sad story). I've been a passionate fan since Klopp's arrival in 2015. So I'm a bit of a newbie myself. I think I picked a perfect time to choose my soccer club that I'd support for a lifetime.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

oof...that will probably go down was one of the most embarrassing moments in football. Anyway, enjoy this moment. It is historic!!

Onward and upward

Been a fan since the Owen years myself. Since I also (finally) graduated in '07, probably the same age. I'm a little more intense of a fan and have have a hell of a ride these past 30 years.

I think you're probably older than me. Owen was my childhood soccer idol. I was about 9 or 10 when I started following him in 97/98. When I played soccer I wanted to be like him.
I graduated VT in 2010.

Onward and upward

Club record 139 goals already as well-what a team this is

Rulli must have bet on liverpool to win 3-2 because that was some horrendous goal keeping in the second half by him first the nutmeg then what in the all thats holy was he thinking coming for that long ball for the third. Unai emery literally had the perfect game plan and for one reason or another went full simeone in the second half instead of keeping the pressure up. One of the most bizarre tactical changes I've ever seen and you just simply cant give liverpool the ball and tempo like that.

Also Allison was a very lucky boy to not give up a penalty in the first half how VAR didnt atleast send the official to look at the monitor is surprising to me.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Doubt they had to legs to keep up a press like the first half. Emery also probably thought Liverpool were shook and wouldn't break through and find one on the counter. The Diaz for Jota swap was massive though. That wasn't the game for Jota and if Firmino was fit, I think he would have started.

Lo Celso and Coquelin didn't do themselves any favor by flopping around all game. If they aren't setting that precedent, ref probably calls a pen. Don't really see how VAR would have overturned it either direction.

To me they could have pressed a bit better in the second half to me they looked to have taken a step back positionally which means it was a tactical change which Emery would have issued. I would imagine he didnt sleep much last night after they did the hard part in getting level and then shit the bed in the second half.

To me I dont care about the flopping previously you cant allow that to influence a legit foul in the box. Allison takes the player out when hes through on goal otherwise and doesnt collect the ball. Unless theres a rule I dont know to me thats a clear foul in the box to me. VAR or the sideline monitor could have maybe allowed the ref who maybe though it was a dive to see there was plenty of contact actually and maybe he made assumptions that lead to the wrong call.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Rulli had a terrible game, I'd agree with you there. My reds rarely do anything the easy way, so I was mildly surprised to see the aggregate at 2-2; for some reason I didn't think Villareal would pull it off though. Jurgen's half-time talks have been gold this season. To think we're in our 3rd CL final in 5 years is insane! The mentality monsters showed up just in time, and honestly that roller coaster of emotions was totally worth it all. I hope we can finish this season with some more silverware, but if we don't the fact that we'll play the maximum allotted games in a season is just plain comical. First English team to 3 finals in one season. So many things to be proud of no matter how this season turns out. With Jurgie resigning, the future is bright.

On a S/N, I don't think VAR would've overturned that penalty. The telecast said that it was a combination of Alisson making contact with the ball, and the player turning into the tackle rather than playing the ball that would've caused the call to stand.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

I'm of firm belief that the two teams had a huge make up trailer out back and did a jersey swap and some realistic makeup job and thats how we got the two polar opposite halves. Time to get the X-files in touch to dig into it gimme some more fox mulder and scully.

I dont disagree with the penalty take but whats he supposed to do really hes going to get clattered one way or another with allison coming in I dont think he has much choice. Kind of like ramsdale flying in studs up on Bowen this weekend and bowen having to jump out of the way to avoid getting mauled. If bowen lets Ramsdale clean him out he gets injured but gets ramsdale in alot of trouble.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

on the other hand, bowen was already anticipating the contact and falling before ramsdale got there, and it's why bowen got the yellow when ramsdale didn't even touch him

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

If bowens leg is on the ground studs down hes getting injured there probably in a bad way, it was reckless from ramsdale. Just because there isnt contact doesnt mean ramsdale went in dangerously.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

I know this is old, but while I agree that Ramsdale was a bit reckless, Bowen could have just jumped out of the way normally and maybe continued with the ball (although I think his touch was heavy and out of play). But you can clearly see him throw his head back trying to sell that there was contact. That's what got him a yellow and probably got Ramsdale out of trouble.

This Real Madrid-Man City semi matches have been unreal!!!

This game....is....freaking....insane....

Both teams scare me, but at this point I'd prefer Real, even though I know they'll be a tough opponent.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

Not often you get an easy opponent in a Champions League Final. I'm interested to see how we play against Real with a proper goalie. This has to hurt Pep in a way he's unfamiliar with.

REVENGE!!!

More like Real without Ramos and his shenanigans. Vinicius going against TAA is the biggest concern. That and the fact Real has La Liga locked up and can coast, whereas the Reds need to grind out every league game and the FA cup.

You hit the nail on the head KopH, there was no easy opponent to face off against in the finals. I think as long as Jurgen is afforded the opportunity to continually rotate the squad, I give us a puncher's chance to walk away with ol' big ears. Benzema is going to be tough though, and those wingers will certainly test our backs. As always it'll come down to midfield play, which I give the slight advantage to Madrid. It'll be a fascinating tie.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

Real has some serious voodoo up right now id be afraid to play them right now. Benzema and vini both had off nights but they still go through. I LOVE THIS GAME

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Real through but the home field advantage def. helped. Not sure how you call that penalty in extra time. Also, Casemiro had like 15 fouls and not a single caution. As a Reds fan, I relish the opportunity for payback. I'm sure Mo Sala is licking his lips.

If I were Ancelotti, I'd repeat Salah's words in every training session from here to the final.

"I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them. Go Virginia Tech." -Lee

I think Sala plans on playing 90+ minutes this time around. No Sergio Ramos to pull his arm out-of-socket on a tackle this time.

It was a clear pen. You can't slide in, miss the ball, and come through the attackers foot. A reckless mistake on tired legs from a young CB. I was actually surprised to see this comment because it didn't seem that controversial in the moment, and the internet turns almost every pen into a controversy.

Its not a controversial pen at all he didnt get the ball and took out benzema clearly. Didnt even see Pep complaining about it after the game which tells you all you need to know.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Cardiac Kings strike again.

A hearty LMAO at Pep, a manager I will never feel an ounce of pity for, and absolutely love to see he and City fail in spectacular fashion once again.

CL final is gonna be fun. If Alaba can get fit itll give RM a big boost and Vini vs trent will be alot of fun.

Whole lotta schoodenfroodie right here folks!

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Hes not the only one, I can take liverpool winning the CL but not Pep and definitely not City. Seeing teams like PSG and Man City continue to be unsuccessful at the one thing they desire most is the reason why we all love sports.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Yep I just don't like these oil money teams that go from 0 to 100 simply because their owners are filthy rich. As much as I hate ManUre I still respect them as a real football club. Newcastle was a real club until they got bought by a bunch of tycoons-it's sad.

100%. I know some here were following football during Pep's Barcelona, but many got into football more recently as the PL's marketing and NBC deal saw a huge surge in viewership in America in the last half decade-ish. It's difficult to explain how painful/hopeless it was in 2008/09 when we were light years behind that team. It's difficult to explain how important Ronaldo and Mourinho are to Madrid fans for anyone who didn't watch/follow football through that time. It's also difficult to explain the elitist, ridiculous things Barca players/fans, Pep and Xavi in particular, would say about other teams when they lost, complaining about the grass length, calling other tactics "anti-football," etc. Just the most infuriating bullshit. Pep is undeniably a great tactical innovator and exceptional manager, but in football terms, you will never catch me feeling sorry for the man.
