welcome home fam
Glad to have him! Welcome!
6'4" and 230 pounds, only other P5 offer was Wake Forest, but was starting to hear from Florida State as well. Unranked on 247, but a solid 3* on Rivals. Lots of mentions that his dad went to UVA (I think he played there but I'm honestly not sure.)
Either way, his tape looks good and we'll see soon enough what he can do in the VHSL spring season. Let's GO!
TE is a position where I'm not usually too concerned about rankings. There usually aren't a ton of blue-chip TE's in any given cycle (only 14 in the last class, no five stars, and only 5 of the 4 star guys were mid to high 4*s), and it isn't uncommon for some of the best ones to be 3*'s in any given season. For example, the mid 3* TE in the last cycle we lost out on to Bama (Robbie Ouzts) was one of the highest TE's on their board. The TE is used in so many different ways in different systems that it makes it a little more difficult to determine their college impact. Outside of the Kyle Pitts/Arik Gilbert type freak a lot of it is finding an OKG "our kinda guy" who fits your culture and style of play. So far this staff has shown me that they can recruit TE's and H-Backs that fit our system well.
Oh for sure. I was just including his ranking cause it wasn't mentioned elsewhere in the thread. I watched like two minutes of his highlights, but what I liked was his ability to use his length in the middle of the field. I don't think he's going to be an end-around, James Mitchell type. But he looks like he'd be able to do a lot of the Mitchell seam routes, and Keane's ability to leak into space on the flat after a block.
He also said he wants to play like Gronk, Kittle, and Kelce and he's got the size to go try and do that.
if he can block like Gronk or Kittle and catch even half as good as any of them, he will make a lot of money in the league
He was on the same summer swim team as my kids and lives in my neighborhood. Great family and great kids (4 boys). His older brother played OL at Army. His dad is a HUGE UVA alum but I don't think he played football. He has another little brother that's nicknamed Tank.
Get those Hardee's coupons ready! #AllTheBrothers
Especially ones named Tank
glad to have him onboard
westfield was (is?) a power in NoVA. would be nice to see an uptick in recruiting from that region
With regards to tight end- Hokies were first in on Keene, Mitchell, and Kyle Pitts. Gallo wasn't highly ranked and has been very good as a young player. And, having a pipeline back at Westfield is not a bad thing. Given the lack of film for most of the country for the past year, it is hard to make any kind of assessment on any commitment, high ranking or otherwise, right now.
Agreed.
And if I'm targeting NOVA schools based on recent state rankings and success, I'm focusing on Westfield & South County (Fairfax Co.), Stone Bridge & Tuscarora (Loudoun Co), and Freedom & Unity Reed (Prince William)... there may be a few other schools that produce a talented kid every now and then, but those schools are usually at the top of the state rankings and producing multiple D1 players.
Keep the highland spring pipeline going as well
We definitely need to but Highland Springs is a Richmond area high school not NOVA.
Ahh damn😂
Yeah man, that wasn't really Germain to this conversation.
Plus 1 leg from me
Great QB pickup!
Will be able to keep him at TE if Lawson pans out.
Thats if Drew Harris doesnt have a breakout year though.
He's still behind George Bell.
Hmm, not 6'13 yet but plenty of time to grow
I have a prediction. This man is gonna blow up after his junior season of HS
Bulldogs represent. Though the fact that he is c/o of 22 makes me feel old.
