Women's Basketball vs Clemson Feb 25 at 6PM

Don't have a lot of time today. Last few days in Florida and the weather is finally really nice; so we are doling beach things.

The Lady Hokies host Clemson at Cassell at 6PM tonight. Clemson is 10-10, 5-10 in the ACC. In ACC play they are 3-4 at home and 2-6 away. The have wins against FSU, Notre Dame and Syracuse at home. Home losses to Ga Tech, Pitt, UNC and WF. The won on the road at LOLUVA and WF. Road losses to Pitt, Miami, Louisville, FSU, Ga Tech and NC State. They are currently on a 4 game losing streak. Many years ago, the Pirates had an announcer named Bob Prince; Bob was a big proponent of hidden vigorish. Hidden vigorish, according to Bob, was a theory that the likelihood of a win increased with each loss in a losing streak; and the likelihood of a loss increased with each win in a winning streak. I hope Bob did not have any insight for this game; the Hokies are on a 4 game winning streak and Clemson has lost 4 in a row.

There is no one on the starting 5 to match up with Kitley; but the sub with the most minutes is 6'4" Tyler Bennett,#55.

No pictures today. Clemson's website was one of the hardest to get data from I have worked with this year; and I couldn't find any action pics.

#3 Kendall Spray 5'5" Senior Guard is the third leading scorer at 11 ppg.. She also shoot 3's at 39% and has made 58 of 149 attempts. She is also the best FT shooter at 90%.

The fourth starter is #5 Amari Robinson 6'0" Sophomore Forward. Averages 8.3 ppg and 5.8 rebounds. Shoots 46.% and 33% from 3.

The fifth starter is #12 Hannah Hank 6'2" Sophomore Forward. Averages 4.1 ppg and 3.6 rebounds. Only play about 14 minutes per game.

#55 Tylar Bennet 6'4" Senior Center plays about 20 minutes per game. Contributes 3.6 ppg and 4.4 rebounds. Has not attempted a 3 this year.

The next three players, Destiny Thomas, Shania Mertens, and Nique Cherry are all Seniors and all play 14-17 minutes per game contributing 2-3 ppg.

More Stats:

On paper, this should be a win for the Ladies. Kitley should have a good day. But Clemson does defend the three ball well, only allowing 31%; so Sheppard and friends may have to work to get some shots. Would be a good game to play inside out. If Clemson tries to collapse on Kitley, there should be a lot of good looks for Sheppard, Amoore and King.

Time to go to the beach.

Go Hokies!
