Women's ACC Tournament Seeding Possibilities

Every team except BC has one game left on Sunday. BC does not play again. Here is what happens if the higher ranked team in the standings wins every game. I call this the expected outcome.

FSU, Tech and Syracuse tie with 9-7 records. FSU is 2-0 against us and Syracuse. We are 1-1 and Syracuse is 0-2. That makes FSU the 4 seed, we are 5 and Syracuse is 6.

The Tournament Bracket looks like this:

Our path through the Tournament is probably Pitt, FSU, Louisville, NC State.

I have also put together a best case scenario. By best case, I mean highest seed. The only change is FSU loses to Wake.

We are now the 4 seed and the bracket looks like this.

Our path through the tournament is probably Syracuse, Louisville, NC State.

And finally if we lose to UNC Sunday and FSU beats Wake, we get the following.

We drop to the 7 seed and our part of the bracket looks like this.

Our path is now Miami, GA Tech, NC State and Louisville.

Obviously getting the 4 seed is better because you have to play fewer games to win the tournament. But is the 5 seed better than the 7 seed. Would you rather play Pitt, then FSU; or Miami, then GA Tech? I think Pitt is probably easier than Miami. Would we rather play FSU or GA Tech in the second round?
