Not much clearance on that toss into the tub. Glad it ended well.

Love this stuff. I don't even care if it was fabricated or arranged.

Hate the locker room carpet.

OT:

Hate the locker room carpet

The locker room is the next item on the update list. The player lounge should be done this season and that will be everything but the locker room updated.

Also to clarify, I am not one to say we need to refresh everything every other year. I have always hated that carpet even during beamer dancing videos.

The fact that carpet was around for Beamer to dance on us an issue. It's a locker room with large amounts of dirty traffic through it. It's time for it and the low drop ceilings to go.

I know where you're going with this but high traffic carpet like that is laid down in tiles and usually designed to be easily replaceable... I would be very disappointed if it's still the exact same fibers that Beamer danced on.

That locker room is an astounding 11 years old. I'm surprised they made carpet way back then.

If you don't build a huge new locker room every 4 years, you can't sign 4 star players. Or at least VT can't.

The dropped ceiling will be dependent on the slab to slab height and what is in the plenum. I'm not sure if this is a newish building with a nice slab to slab height, but I'm assuming its older. Probably has a ton of ductwork and other items filling that plenum too. Especially if it is next to the fitness areas. They could add clouds or other means to try and make the ceiling feel higher, but then you are adding extra sprinkler heads and some other concerns. While a higher ceiling would be great, an 8' to 9' ceiling is pretty commonplace. For active fitness spaces, then we would look at higher depending on what is actually being done in the space.

The carpet, while I'm not crazy about the colorway, is commercial grade and should be solid for at least 10 years, maybe longer if properly taken care of. It is also tile, meaning that if there is a stain or spill, it's easy to replace. I know the manufacturers that VT tends to use and it's pretty solid. It will be out of "fashion" before it really needs to be replaced fully.

That locker room was built in 2010. So hopefully the slab to slab thing is not too ancient

Merryman was built in 1998, so not too ancient. Depends on what else they planned for that space. Some buildings tend to stick to a short slab to slab due to height restrictions, costs, infrastructure, and a variety of other reasons. For example, DC has horrible slab to slab heights.

Even if the slab may be higher, you would have to see what else is in the plenum. Normally sprinkler pipes are a good indication of all the infrastructure above as they tend to be the lowest. So you could have a 15' slab to slab height, but then need to have a 9' ceiling, because of the HVAC, duct, electrical, beams, etc. I've also seen support beams really destroy a ceiling height, because that will come down from the slab and then they have to run a huge duct underneath it.

HBD Coach Fu! More of this type of content please!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

Things like this make it hard to not like Fu and support him and his staff...ducks

Fu is a class, nice guy. I've met him. His support by fans is tied to winning though- bottom line, nature of the beast. If he wins 9-10 games, he will be universally supported by Hokie Nation as he should be.

I like Fuente a lot. I really really wanted him to do well. He just hasn't. *shrug emoji*

This is my exact feeling. I hope things go well this year and fans can feel good about the direction of the program.

It's important and noteworthy that the majority of the team seems to like him.

With the SI article, fanbase revolting, etc. etc. it would be easy to imagine that things in the locker room are really toxic, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Honestly good content here. Definitely seems like there is genuine camaraderie there, and Fuente handles the situation well.

Love it! Fu took it well, and I'm sure enjoyed it inside. And besides, what was he going to do? those are damn grown men oak trees carrying him!

Who are you and what have you done with dcwilson40?

Where's the beef?

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I was hoping there was an ice bath at the end of that carry and am happy it looks like they got him to the deep end.

HBD coach, now players get one suicide for every year, right?

I am not sure what to do with my hands now

I don't know if it the Beamer Barn got built into the hill behind the old tennis courts, or in front of it, but I remember watching the players do sprints up that hill. Grown ass men on the football field, looking like scared little kids, trying to breathe after about 30 or so sprints. I would too with Bud screaming at the bottom of that hill.

If I'm not mistaken I think that's the cold tub! They keep those babies at around 35-40 degrees. I have nightmares about the one in Jameson.

The man has lost control of the locker room. They literally picked him up and threw him out.

Why is it no surprise Hoffman has him under the shoulders. That dude is always showing up

This is SO much better than being thrown into the Duck Pond like some initiatives did to me back in the day.

Happy Birthday, Coach!
