The Ladies play NC State today at 6 PM. The game will be available on Regional Sports Networks. Tom Werme and Debbie Antonelli will call the game. NC State is the no 2 seed; the Hokies are the 7 seed. But the announcers yesterday were pretty emphatic that they thought the Hokies were at least the 3rd best team in the ACC, both in terms of talent and current play. NC State is 12-2 in ACC play and 17-2 overall. Their losses were to the Hokies in Cassell and at UNC. Cunane did not play against us; she did play at UNC.
The big story everyone is talking about is Cunane vs Kitley in this one. This match up started when both were still in high school. Cunane is a year older and seems to be a little stronger. Kitley has a higer scoring average, has more rebounds/game and blocks more shots; but Cunane is morelikely to shoot from 3. NC State has four players averaging in double figures and Raina Perez is at 9.2 ppg. So there is talent at every spot on the team. The Hokies have only three players averaging double figures and Cayla King at 8.9. NC State has 7 players who have played every game. The Hokies also have 7 players who have played in most games.
The key to this game may be how much and how well Sheppard can play. She went out of the last two games in the first half. And the Hokies struggled without her.
The usual tables and pictures below. For this thread, I have also included data for the Hokies for comparison.

Our top three, Kitley, Sheppard and Amoore, match up fairly well with their top three, Cunane, Brown-Turner and Jones. Our next two, King and Baines, do not score as well as their next two, Perez and Crutchfield. But King is capable of getting hot and scoring well above her average.
I am really finding it difficult to point to anything in the stats that says they are much better than we are. However, if Sheppard is not available or not able to play well, we are going to have to have someone come off the bench with their supergirl cape on for us to stay with the Wolfpack.
If Sheppard is healthy, this will be a great game to watch.
Go Hokies!

Comments
Game may come down to how Gregg shoots from the perimeter....which is tough to rely on. She had a double-double though with 13 points and ten rebounds for the Hokies though against Miami.
Lets Go!
F@#$%. Freaking again. I dump one provider to get ACCN, and lose the RSN, then switch back to get RSN, but lose something else. Does UTube TV carry this game on RSN and the ACCN?
HOKIES
None of the first 3 rounds will be aired on the ACCNetwork.
HOKIES!!!
Does the ACCN even think before making TV schedules? In what world does it make sense to air women's softball instead of the women's ACC tourney?
Louisville had some problems with WF in the first game today. Tied at points in the third quarter before they pulled away. Evans did not have a typical game.
Hokiesports and ESPN show the game as being on ACCNX which is on ESPN Watch. I strongly expect it will be blacked out.
Yesterdays was for the blacksburg area.
If you have Hulu Live it is being shown on one of the ESPN Extra channels.
Except it is blacked out.
Sorry about that. Mine on Hulu Live was not blacked out in Mississippi.
Here is a list of the Regional Sports Networks that will be carrying tonight's game:
https://theacc.com/sports/2021/2/26/WBB_RSN_ACCT21_D3G3.aspx
If you are in any of these markets and don't or can't subscribe to one of these RSNs through your Cable/Satellite/Streaming TV provider, the game will definitely be blacked out on ESPN/ACCNX.
I don't know why it would change per game, but here is where the ACC is posting these links for each matchup (under Affiliates):

6'5"!! Holy crap. That's ridiculous, this would be like me playing against 6th graders. The fact that Cunane only has 10 blocks on the season means she is either slow and players can blow by her or nobody tries to play in the paint.
All of the above
Sheppard will play. Hope she is full strength.
Already got 1 foul on their big,
Sheppard looks ok, but she is not shooting well. 2 for 7 and 0 for 3 from three
She is hurting them out there right now.
2 of 14 and 0 of 6 from outside.
It's the difference
Terrible shooting. 27% overall and 1 for 9 from three. Let's hope they get hot in the second half.
Not good Bob. Unless something changes a lot in the fourth, this one be slip sliding away.
Might have been better to limit Sheppard. She's forcing shots and missing open shots.
Cunane Ku-hilling us and no Sheppard to balance it out. Another two minutes and turn out the lights the party is over.
