VT Men's Soccer Falls in Sweet 16

In an extremely hard fought and damn good showing, the Hokies lost to #6 Seton Hall 7-6 on penalty kicks following a 2-2 aet.

Nick Blaylock (So) netted the first goal to put the Hokies up 1-0 in the 14th minute off of an assist from Jacob Labovitz.

Late in the 45th minute, Seton Hall tied it up, to put the score 1-1 going into the second half.

In the 56th minute, Blaylock struck again for the Hokies, also off of an assist from Labovitz, but they couldn't hold the lead, as Seton Hall tied it back up in the 81st minute.

After two scoreless overtimes, the game was decided on penalties.

Sivert Haugli netted the first penalty for the Hokies, which was matched by Seton Hall
Next came Blaylock who put the ball in the net for the third time of the match. Seton Hall missed, putting the Hokies up 2-1.
Landon Ameres missed his shot for the Hokies and Seton Hall tied it back up at 2-all
The two teams went back and forth, making all of their next 4 pks each.
The Hokies 7th kicker, Chris Little missed his pk, giving the opening to Seton Hall, who capitalized with the game winner.

Thus ends the Hokie Men's Soccer season with a 7-6-4 record

What a brutal way to lose, the goal keeper getting a PK in.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

VT also saved a PK in the first half. They hit the post in the second half right before Labovitz got sent off for his second yellow. The missed PK in the shootout was off the post too. Tough loss for sure but truth be told they had their chances.

After he was sent off the momentum completely changed. Immediately Prior to that we had 2 solid chances with several other great bouts of possession.

So still a basketball school and not football. Great season though, Hokies!

Lol underrated comment

Tough loss but this team can play with anybody. Hopefully they can carry this momentum into the fall.
