VT controlled the game and kept their attack organized until the goal finally came.
Boston College parked the bus in front of their goal and maintained good defensive cohesion and only had one chance on a counter attack.
VT deserved this win. Great crowd, lots of students.
As a side bar, Marshall is back to #1 in the latest rankings. They only have one loss this year...to VT!
It's petty as hell, but I never get tired of being responsible for these
A VT-Marshall matchup in the Final Four might be likely depending on how the bracket looks.
(Hokie) Football (both kinds) is Life!
We're a (proper) football school
That win will get us some consideration for a home NCAA tournament match, and we should be a lock for another invite. A win on Sunday would likely guarantee a home match for the first round, and set up a seed that would make a deep NCAA tourney run more likely.
let's do this...
Hokies were the superior team Wednesday night. I think the shots were 15 to 2. Now it is on to Pitt and avenging the the 4-1 loss.
Sitting at 1-1 with about 10 minutes left on the ACCN.
Narduzzi would be proud if the level of whining.
For real, Pitt getting a lot of calls and falling down every time a VT player comes within 3 feet.
Going to OT. Next goal wins. Beating #6 Pitt at Pitt would put us in the ACC semi"s at give another top win going into the NCAa's
We moved today. Comcast is here now! Luckily I have unlimited and 3 bars on 5G so I'm refreshing like a mad man....
Ughh!!!
Not today. Gave up the goal in the second OT. Played not to lose in the end.
I agree that they were playing back but Pitt averages 4 goals a match at home. I think the setup after the last time they played was the right move.
I agree - getting to PKs was probably our best chance. But we stopped attempting to counter in the second OT, and allowed them to up the pressure. Not sure if it was a call, or we were just too gassed, but you could feel the momentum shift when we stopped trying to work it forward.
I saw the same thing while watching. Sitting way back and just booting it downfield when we got possession. Lots of yellows shown that were down to being tired on challenges.
