OT: In Waterville, Maine- need restaurant recommendations

I'm up in Maine for the Cal Ripkin Baseball World Series. We're planning on going to Acadia NP/Bar Harbor on Tuesday after our game that morning. Just looking for restaurant recommendations for the total Maine lobster fare experience (if anyone has them).

Good luck guys! We are cheering you on from home.

EDIT: I also had no clue how close together we lived. We scrimmaged you all a few times right before you left.

I appreciate that. We're off to a rocky start.
We also appreciate the scrimmages. My son currently plays on the Eagles but he wants to come tryout for The Cave when we get back.

I saw some pictures. I believe I would be looking up to some of the competitors you all are playing against.

Some of these boys are huge, many over 6'. Just good genes and much larger population pools to draw from.

My son played on the Keezletown teams in the Cal Ripkin League quite a few years ago. Played many a tough game against the Shenandoah teams. I work with one of The Batting Cave Co-owners.

I know what you're not eating in Waterville. Not your mama's bbq!

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Emmett Otter was the shit. When his mom sings that song at the talent show i still cry. Not ashamed.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

A classic that never gets old. I know most younger kids don't care for it but the story is great, sad and happy all at the same time. Simpler times!

there's a fancy place called Opal I think. but Cappa for Pizza and Griffords for Ice Cream. Oh there is a nice Thai place there too.

Where have you not been? Lol. I guess the better questions is where is the one place you want to go that you haven't been yet?

haha, yeah.... I do travel a lot. In this particular instance, a very good friend of mine that I met in China 16 years ago lives there (nearby) with his wife and I have visited several times.

where do I want to go that I haven't been? Helsinki, Dubrovnik (and Croatia in general), Lake Bled, Tallinn, Santiago and Lebanon are top locations I haven't been, off the top of mind.

Dubrovnik (and Croatia in general)

Score! Of course, it feels like it garbage time TD to avoid a shut out, but I guess I'll take it.

Spent a week on the island of Vis last summer and would strongly recommend checking out the islands if you make it over to Croatia. We flew into Split and then ferried to Vis so we got both mainland and island time without ever renting a car.

Helen's of Machias used to be the best place to eat in Maine. But it is 2.5 hours from your location.

i can help a lil with MDI from places i've hit the times i've been.

Young's Lobster - Belfast. Marshall Wharf brewery is a really cool location. Kids can get ice cream up the street. lol
Travelin Lobster - Acadia, quite a few in this area, but the only one I went to.
Abel's Lobster - Acadia. the views are stunning, longer wait likely, but i love that place. if a lot of people could be tough pull, but everything about it is great
Thurston's - SW Acadia (close to bass harbor head)

in Bar Harbor, i stan for the Annex at Side Street Café for general eats . great drinks, vibe.

I think we'll hit up Young's and maybe Abels tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions. Young's seems to be the favorite of the locals as well.

Only if you count the black flies.

Spent a week at Acadia this past June, tried to avoid Bar Harbor - just too touristy and crowded for my liking- Did eat and drink at Bar Harbor Beerworks one day, good food, great beer selection. We stayed over just outside of Winter Harbor, if you get over that way (Birch Harbor specifically), check out The Pickled Wrinkle. I did stop at one of the lobster pounds on the way out of Acadia one day and got a lobster roll...it was okay, but not worth the $31 it cost.

If you get into Bangor, 2 Feet Brewing had some good beers, but the food left a bit to be desired.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

We did 2 weeks in Maine just a few weeks ago. Stayed in Lincolnville for 1st week and then to Smithfield, Maine. Rented AirBnBs both locations.

For lobster, you have to get away from the touristy spots. The prices are insane. We bought them at locations right off the boat in Cundy Harbour (Hawkes Lobster) and in Boothbay Harbor (Atlantic Edge Lobster). Both places: Fresh lobster and clam quality was excellent.

In Cundy Harbor we had Lobster Roll Lunch at Holbrook's Lobster Wharf, The view there is insane!
In Boothbay Harbor we ate lunch on the deck at Mine Oyster. Another great view!

We cooked them ourselves (took our crabpot with us) and had spare meat (we planned this) that we made breakfast lobster benedicts the next day. Awesome!

Edit: A pretty decent restaurant in Waterville is Silver Street Tavern and Grill (not so much for Lobster, but they have that also (almost everywhere does).

French approves

Man, I'd kill to be somewhere that long sleeves and pants were needed. This like 3 or 4 straight weeks of heat indexes over 100 is killing me

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Oh, it just got like that yesterday. It was up into the mid 90's every day prior. Was pretty miserable on the turf fields.

Also, there was a SUV on Cadillac Mountain decked out in Hokie magnets. Parked beside another in Bar Harbor with a VT magnet, and then had a woman in the lobby of the hotel this morning give me a big "Go Hokies" when she walked by me.
We are well represented.

Can conform, we ran into Hokies hiking around Jordan Pond (Acadia NP). Go Hokies was echoing across the mountains around us!
