Lakeem Rudolph, a 6-4, 234-pound redshirt sophomore from Virginia Beach (Green Run), has entered the transfer portal. Third #Hokies player to do so, joining cornerback DJ Harvey and defensive end Mattheus Carroll. One tackle in eight appearances over three years for Rudolph. https://t.co/Zd4vuCuAmFโ David Cunningham (@therealdcunna) December 4, 2022
He moved around a lot it seemed.

I was excited about his potential out of high school. Best of luck, Lakeem!
Are we sure we want to do separate threads for this? I have a feeling another 15 or so are coming tomorrow
Joe said he preferred it this way so people could find each individual one easier.
I know he did. I was actually referencing his decision. I really like the "active discussions" when I scroll to the bottom. It holds 15 threads. I'm afraid all of them are going to be transfers tomorrow. I'd like to have that in a master list somewhere, as I don't think there will be much to say about a lot of these guys.
Plus, I like reading about mens/women's basketball, recruiting, etc. during the off-season.
Just my two cents
Are you going to complain about this in every thread?
I don't think calmly stating what you want and briefly providing rationale counts as complaining.
I don't care either way about the threads, but you're complaining more than he is
I appreciate the feedback. I usually suggest individual threads over mega-threads because there's tooling to filter the former via the Tracker. I agree the portal transfers are going to flood "Active Discussions" and its limit of 15, but that's only supposed to act as the "top" of the Tracker. From the Tracker you can page through and filter to better find what you want. There's no perfect solution here, but I think this is the best balance of discoverability and noise available.
I did mention it might make sense to have a mega-thread to maintain a list (as you suggested) and serve for some high-level discussion: https://www.thekeyplay.com/comment/1170709#comment-1170709.
I am preferring individual threads on this. It's easier to track this way than to try and skim through 100 comments or whatever on a catch-all
Best of luck wherever you land Mr. Rudolph.
Rudolph the redshirt sophomore, leaving VT is what he chose.
And if we ever saw him, he would probably be a conference foe.
All of the other Hokies, we got to know by name.
Coach never let poor Rudolph, join in any Hokie games.
A little surprised by this, but it seems like Pry is getting away from the Fuente philosophy of length and speed at the expense of functional football ability. Rudolph moved from safety to linebacker to defensive end. That is a steep learning curve, especially with Nelson, McCray, Moyston, and Burgos ahead of him on the depth chart and basically the same amount of eligibility left. There wasn't an immediate avenue to play.
I am a little worried about depth at that spot (Nelson is reliable, McCray and Moyston showed some flashes), but they need both Moyston and Burgos to take a big step forward, with Payne being a better rotational veteran than Griffin was.
Do we know that Pry encouraged this move or if it was actually his decision on his own based on lack of play time?
Remember being really excited when we signed him.
Sometime between then and this thread, I forgot he was even on the team.
If that doesn't sum up this era of Hokie football, I don't know what does.
This one is a little surprising. Wasn't expecting much DL attrition outside of Mamudi. There's a lot of opportunity on the DL next year.

Paging hokiecamel!
negative marks for not releasing this tweet on Wednesday
Has anyone ever seen an actual Camel in North Carolina?
Yea, I am pretty sure I've seen some at Zootastic Park in Mooresville, NC
I've seen people smoke Camels in North Carolina. Does that count?
That's probably closer to why they have that as a mascot than anything else submitted.
still very gamey
There's a drive-thru zoo between Mooresville and Salisbury that has camels, and lots of other large animals.
Lazy 5 Ranch, right?
Yup. Lazy 5 to the east of Mooresville, and as SoupHokie mentioned, there's Zootastic which is north of Mooresville.
I hate these road side zoos, but they do have animals you most likely won't see anywhere else. They take good care of some of the animals, especially the horses ($$$), and I've seen situations where they've rehabbed animals that got sick or injured, but some clearly don't get the care they need.
I think it's more a reference to single hump.
Every year in Buies Creek at Campbell University for homecoming ๐ช๐ช๐ช
Huh. I always thought Rudolph was a reindeer, not a camel. Shows what I know...
Roll humps ๐ช๐ช๐ช
Pairing the #1 FCS recruiting class with some FBS transfers is hopefully a good recipe for success. Especially since they'll be in the CAA starting next year.
