Defensive end Eli Adams is the latest #Hokies player to enter the portal. He played 32 games at VT, with five starts. Had 35 tackles and 4 TFLs. He did not play at all last year, though.— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) December 6, 2022
Not surprising. I don't remember Eli playing a single snap this year. He was the last Hokies recruit I saw play in person before I saw Gunner Givens last year. His South Point team was loaded with talent, including Derion Kendrick. Smaller guy who gave VT some snaps, but never showed off the explosiveness from his high school film that offset his small stature (I don't think he is 6 feet tall.) I wonder if he would go to EHC, who moved to D2 this year.

Best Wishes to him. He had a little bit of a motor to him when he got here but it was tough for him.
Honestly, was a bit surprised not to see Adams' name yesterday.
With Payne missing all year and Garbutt missing significant time as well, if you were an Upperclassman at DE and not getting any time on the field, the writing had to be on the wall.
I think he could be a definite contributor at a different level of competition and hope he finds a good spot for himself.
As expected, good luck to him
It would be cool to see him in a Wasp uniform. The defense could probably use him.
The defense performed better than expected with the move up, although they could use more speed, particularly in the secondary. The offensive line, especially once Will Overstreet got dinged up, struggled. QB and receivers were good until Overstreet and Penn's injuries, then the QB got hurt and the wheels fell of a bit. I expect a lot of roster churn there too.
Best of luck, Eli!
Where is the E&H connection coming from?
My brain. Size wise, he wouldn't be such an outlier. Honestly, he is the same size as our smallest starting DE when I was at EHC (Earl Jefferson.)
That makes sense. I was looking too deep.
He's more likely to end up at an FCS though, right? Or is it possible to go to a G5?
I think when you are a grad transfer and don't have an NFL skillset or frame, you look for a good fit academically where your football skill allows you to achieve your academic and professional goals. I am not sure what his major was, but I assume he will be looing at schools that have the masters degree he wants to pursue and playing time.
Hope it wasn't BIT or this thread gonna go downhill fast...sorry gobble, I'm 800% done
You were really chomping at the BIT to make that comment werent you ayyyy 😉👉
You could have engineered a better response. I'm disappointed in you GGC
